"Remington's Guide to Shotguns and Shotshell Ammunition" on their website actually recommends full choke. I just looked at the guide on the back of a box of Remington 3" OO and it recommends full choke as well. My two boys and I patterned our shotguns last year for a shotgun only hunt. With factory chokes two of the shotguns patterned best with factory full and the other with modified. We then tried aTrulock extra full extended choke. All three shotguns will put eight to ten pellets in a paper plate at 45 yds using Remington 3" OO with the rest just outside. Since we have messed around with three or four other shotguns and all but the one shot tighter with full than modified. Improved cylinder wasn't close in any of them. In all of them the extended extra-full was much tighter. Certain individual shotguns of ours will not shoot one brand of shell well with any choke but will shoot great with another brand. With our patterning the Remingtons were best overall followed by Winchesters. None of our guns liked the Federal Premium copper plated at all. In the end you need to pattern your shotgun to find out what it shoots best.
