Air Rifle Scope on a Shotgun ?
« on: May 18, 2012, 02:58:01 AM »
I have a real nice and tough air rifle scope. Will this scope hold up on my shotgun ? It's one of those that will take the brutal front & rear recoil of springer type air guns.

Don't know, so here I am asking. Thanks to all and all the best.

I always heard that the recoil of the air guns was brutal on scopes because of the reverse recoil.
Even if the scope can hold up to the recoil my air gun scopes are not clear past a few dozen yards.
The other day I took myu rifle ot the range and was shooting it at 25 Yards and on 9 power I could read the target.
I later moved the target back to 50 yards and was practicing with the 22 pistol I pulled out the air rifle and the target was fuzzy, very fuzzy.  i am not sure you would be able to tell what end if the deer you are looking at through the scope at 100 yards.  If you want to shoot objects that are 35 yards away or closer then mount it, if further is your goal then buy a shot gun scope.

Just watch you eyebrow, make sure the scope has enough eye relief. ;)
