Contender pistol stand
« on: May 18, 2012, 12:07:58 PM »
I need to get more involved in shooting this stuff competitively myself, but for now I am just a "soccer" dad.  My kids shoot a lot of the events at the Texas State 4H games - which included a lot of sihouette games (and are generally their favorite - punching holes in paper just does not motivate them as much).

Anyway, am starting to prep for this years games and thinking of adding a Contender for Hunter Pistol Sihouette (they have been using semi-auto 22 pistols and a traditional 2 handed hold - which really can not compete against a single shot and taco hold).  I have noticed some real nice Contender loading stands on the lines in years past - but never paid much attention to them.  Now I am searching the internet for plans - or even just a picture so I can put my woodworking skills to the test.

I don't recall much of them, but that they were table top stands that held the pistol while broke open  (barrel downrange and angled down) - looked like it would help with with loading.  A knee roll might work, but would not show off my woodworking ;).

Anyway, this is the most active forum for handgun silhouette I could find today, so anyone seen what I am talking about, anyone have any pictures?

I don't have a picture of what you want, but will try to explain one a fellow shooter has. Take a box such as pictured and mount it securely to a strong camera tripod. You can also use one of those totes you use to haul cleaning supplies and such in your house. Just make your box removeable for easy packing in your vehicle. Hope this helps.
