I have wondered why didn't ruger ever develope/ make a ruger mk2/3 slightly enlarged in 22mag? I think it would sell, have it with a 7.5or 8 inch heavy barrel would be quite the ticket for getting rid of varmints.

At one time I dreamed about the same thing and I added the same pistol (mark 2/3) chambered in 9mmP with a fixed barrel.  I would have loved the 9mmP more than the 22 mag.

Well if you want the same style in 9mm get your hands on a luger copy same grip angle and all around same feel. Another thing I'd like to see a enlarged mk series in 5.7x28 (once or if it ever gets standardised by a main branded ammo manufacturer) since most of the guns in that caliber work like a 22 as far as action goes. again heavy barrel geared torwards varminters but again brownings large varmint pistol never really tok off either.

I had a Luger at one time and it was a great pistol.  I would have prefered one with the Ruger Mk2 or 3 with scope mounts for small game/varmints.  As far as the 5.7x28, Excel arms has one.  Check the link below:

huh no kidding thats pretty much what I was thinking a slightly heavier barrel would be better but beggers can't be choosers.  It's alot more like a buck mark but still right to the point. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Howdy,
Didn't AMT make a .22 Magnum Automag? From what I understand, it is quite difficult to build a reliable blowback pistol for a high-energy cartridge that can work reliably with many different makes of ammunition. It was once thought that a conversion of a 10-22 to .17 Mach II would be as simple as replacing the barrel, but when recoil velocity, etc were taken into account, it wasn't an easy job at all.
I think the only workable pistol in .22 Magnum would be a delayed blowback or gas-piston design.

I sold a customer an AMT in 22mag you could not mix and match ammo  it like the winchester solids or hp and no other  it was a accuerat dependable pistol

Kel tec makes a .22 mag semi auto pistol with a 30 round magazine. I have read they are selling like hotcakes.

I was wondering why ruger never went forward of making a mk series in 22mag. I am aware of the other pistols that were made in 22mag and currently made in 22mag. Started th thread as to why ruger never did.

Difficult to make reliable,the .22 mag in a semiauto pistol. Had an AMT that I traded off cause it jammed,even after once to the factory.Ruger made the Charger based on the 10/22,but their production of the 10/22Mag was not too long, with no encore.Check the Kel Tec PM30,with its 30 rd. clip.

I cannot believe Ruger did not have the interest... as you pointed out the PMR is kinda avalible.. that is to say they are making them... but they are sold or rather have been sold for close to a year... as soon as a retailer gets one he simply calls in a reserve...

The new 22/45 platform would make for a popular base for such a pistol... 

I would buy one!!
