If he had stood for conservative values over his political career and acted less like a Liberal, he might have more third party people willing to hold their nose and vote for him!But he's not looking for help from Constitutional minded, conservative Republicans and Independents, so let him be satisfied with support from people who only vote party lines! The independents are not the ones helping Obama! Romney is guilty of[size=78%] [/size]that by running as a Liberal, pretending to be Conservative. The phony Fox News poll is just trying to make independent thinkers feel bad about not voting for a phony Conservative.

NW, I agree with what you are saying concerning Romney, but the polls for Independents don't mean much right now anyway. A couple of weeks ago more of the "Independents" were Polling higher forRomney & might again in a couple of weeks. Alot of those folks are not 3rd Party types or strong principled, but rather weaklings who hear either Candidate say something they like from either of these main Clowns & run to that camp, only to run back to the other when they hear sweet nothings. Where these "reeds shaken by the wind" stand come election time however will matter.

  Now there are just 2 to choose from, and if some stubborn former conservatives  don't vote against Obama..then they are olbviously, voting for him.

Tobster, it was a different landscape, but more importantly the Media/News Outlet was MUCH different.
 
Concerning the Landscape, the "Independents" were not the force that they are today. There were more Democrats than Republicans, but the Democrat Party (unlike today) had a few more Conservative Polititians & alot of Conservative leaning voters (Reagan Democrats) who were basically blue collar principled, hard working folks who have since left the party & we have the uberlibs now who are the Socialist Demoncraps along with a few confused.
 
Concerning the Media, we did not have Cable News to speak of, we had the 3 networks who
already were in the more Liberal Est. Demoncrap camp. They gave us poll numbers & opinions that could not be opposed on a wide scale basis because they had the only mic.
Because of that, we were told that Carter was ahead of Reagon until just before the election, they started pulling back a little at that point to save face. It has been said since that time that Carter's handlers were telling him to start packing his bags while the big 3 networks told us he was going to win.
 
People like myself who remember this have no problem understanding why the Demoncraps push the "fairness doctrine."

Looks like I am going to be voting for RP next week, but that has nothing to do with the type "Independents" the polls are talking about, the ones that drift back and forth like lost puppies. Many of the folks who have been voting for Paul are folks who voted for Bush last time, through the Rep. primaries.

Nope, The First Amendment does not apply here, this is a privately owned forum and the owners/administrators have the right to control content. And that's as it should be.

So.....every time I point out clearly and concisely how much Oboy and Romboy have in common the thread gets locked, because the "lesser' thread is the only place where that is permitted. HOWEVER.....those who stand in opposition to the truth about them both seem to be permitted to spread their falsehood that a vote for RP is a vote for Obbummer wherever they wish.

Yes, I was a little tongue n cheek there. Yes I know it is privatly owned & can set their own rules & I believe in that right as well, I just think that discussion has hit a humorus level.

  There have always been "single issue" voters, or some who were hung up on one or two issues which were especially meaningful to them.  Hopefully there are enough on both extremes to cancel each other out.

Nothing false about it. It will be Romney or Obama and if there are enough people with your outlook it WILL be Obama. You may not like the choices you have in the real world but that's it. The "lesser evil" isn't a great choice but that's all we have.
