Helped 2 LEO's in an apprenhension today.

I was loading my boat on my trailer when I noticed a police car drive up and look off into the distance. After a few minuets another police car showed up and both officers walked toward the park. I noticed they were trying to apprehend a goose that was limping badly. After several failed attempts, I offered the officers my fishing net. They were successful in capturing the limping goose. It seems the poor goose got tangled up in fishing line. The officers removed the line and set the goose free. Everyone was happy.

Was the fishing line keeping the goose from flying off?  The geese around here only let you get so close and then they start honking and take off.  Anyway, you and the cops did good.

Kind of like the report of a dog chasing ducks in the park.  The LEO's found the dog and issued its owner a citation for violation of the leash law.  The ducks refused medical treatment and left the area according to the report.

No, the goose was capable of flight. I don't think they are in their summer molt yet. Don't know why it didn't fly off. Could be they are used to people feeding them?

Probably did not fly if fishing line was tangled between both legs, since they usually take a few steps to get momentum to take flight, If legs were tangled then the body would be not able to maintain good balance for flight. ;)
