Just opened my June issue of American Hunter magazine from the NRA and on page 25 there is a little blurb about a recent higher education addition to my town and the state of Wyoming. We have had only one 4-year post-secondary school in the state (University of Wyoming) until a few years ago, when the Wyoming Catholic College opened its doors. Part of their curriculum is to take a gun safety class and a National Outdoor Leadership School wilderness backpacking course. The school's motto?...: "The only school in America where you can't have a cell phone, but you can have a gun."
The sportsmen's association to which I belong provides the class for them to take. They are stellar students and great kids. Over the past four years, not one of these young people has been in trouble with the law, as far as I know. They are a refreshing complement to our community and provide a great example of positive living to our local youth.
