I've got the Family Bible from the 1800s that says my Grandma and her family were Cherokee, and Chickasaw.  In Tennessee entrys into the Family Bible is accepted as fact and proof.

Doubt Obama's mother's left wing family even had a Bible.  He's trying to get the Native Americans vote, maybe.

That's funny. The most international president ever now wants it both ways: ultra domestic and ultra international.
 
My take on it is that it's probably for a vote, but another angle on it is money. I live in a state where Anishinabe and Dakota people live. If you can show you are part Indian, like down to about 1/32, you are eligible for some serious money derived from, among other things, casinos.  Hugely valuable scholarhips and stipends are available. I know a couple of people who qualify, and one family has several kids who are all going to college free.

Doubt it will matter for either, to now be reconized as part Cherokee you have to meet certian criteria and it depends on wheather you are from the east or west etc. Maybe someone who knows will offer what has to happen. My wife is part Cherokee and found out it is difficult to be reconized if very far removed .

This should not be surprising it claims to an U.S. citizen also.
