H&R 223 with 60 grain NoslerPartition

Any of you guys tried this bullet in the H&R 223's????  Nosler says in thier catalog that it "requires a 12in twist"  I am confused.But then again that does not take  alot for me. ::)  Doug

First off - 12in twist means that the bullet makes 1 revolution for every 12" of travel down the barrel. Older 223's have 1 - 12" twists, the newer ones should be 1 - 9" twist rate. Although I have not tried any 60 grain Nosler bullets, I am confident they will stabilize in your rifle, be it a 12 or 9" twist. You will have to try them to see if they will perform up to your expectations. Remember, every rifle is different so they like different bullets, powder, primers, cases and many other factors...just try them.

That is confusing.  I would think a heavier bullet would like the faster twist, although 60 gr. isn't super heavy.

Doug, the 60gr NP along with the 63gr Sierra #1370 and 64gr Win PP are all heavier-than-55gr bullets that have a good track record for shooting good in 12" twist 223 barrels, they're all short for their weight.  ;)

Thanks,Tim.I am putting together a shoot things gun.One I can use for allmost anything(range retrictions ackowledged) and one I can use chamber adapters  in. One for 22lr and one for 22wmr.

our new .223 superlite does great with 55gr hornady spsx @100yrds an itsa 1n9 ;D
soon i'll be compete'n this'un with tha "39"......so far, its close and will be made better ;)
very pleased with it !!!!

Insted of opening a new post, here is the picture of the launch vehicle for the Nosler 60 grain Partitions.Youth 223 , ATI stock,Tasco Bantam 2.5x20 scope.Collapsed is  short enough for the the area I want to use it in.  Doug

I've got some 60 and some 80 gr bullets for my .223/22-250s.  Just have not had the time to play with them yet.
