What a heck ova weekend!
« on: May 22, 2012, 10:18:17 AM »
After a week of putting up with all of government incompetence I could stand, I headed down to the farm Friday evening for a funfilled weekend.   :)

I didn't even drive!  Told hunting buddy Rog he was elected and curled up with a 12 pac!  Best trip (240 miles) I've had in all these years!   :P

Next morning, after a pot of coffee fortified with some KY mash, the 3 of us get the golf card on the trailer, strapped on our sixguns (Tommy's was loaded with snakeshot but I had all those 38's I wanted to shoot up), iced down a 30 pack of beer, and headed out to the farm at the uncivilized early hour of 8:30 am.   :o

We drove around the area that will soon be timbered off, looked at some food plot sites, retrieved a trail camera, checked feeders, drank the beer and shot up the ammo!  Life was good!   ;D

'bout 11:30 we started getting hungry so we headed back to the house.  After ruling out the Waffle House we picked these up en route!

And whilst we shuckked oysters and drank beer we boiled crab and corn!

Wooooo Mercy! sounds like the best.
I was at Appilachicola Bay last week and they had oyster rakes working all over the place. Appilachicola bay produces over 1/2 the oysters sold in the US I have been told. ear

Sounds like what we did 'bout 25 miles south of ya Richard!      Don't know where my huntin buddy gottem but I didn't much care....them were the best o'sters we ever had in camp and very clean!   :D   A bushel of 'em iced down, had'em raw, marinated in lime juice, baked on the grill and steamed in beer.    Steamed up the corn and red taters too.  Just didn't have any of dat crab this time.   :(

Went out to repair the bear damage (again!  >:( )  to the feeders and turned up some ground.    Did some target practice on a couple of large water moccasins with the .45.     Sunset time sat down in the rocker with some aged Cuban rum on ice.   Yup - life is good at the camp!

ATLAW. Sounds like great fun. I'm not real great about raw oysters but love em rolled and deep fried, baked too. WE simply use ketchup and horseradish mixed up to dip em in. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

I had some about may 6 , and didn't die either . Might be farm raised ? They do that here on the bay big business now since the skates eat alot of the natural and seed ones in open waters of the bay.
