I decided against renting the 357 Max reamer.......
« on: May 23, 2012, 01:17:52 PM »
......and bought a factory 357 Max instead! ;D

Model 058 with an AZ serial number. It balances very nicely and weighs in at 6lbs. even.

I found some Hornady 180 SSP's and some small rifle primers today. Now I just have to find some brass.

Very nice find.  I've become a gun show junky looking for one of those and a Marlin 1894CL .32-20.

Very nice! Much cleaner than mine!!

(I have one of these too)

Best of luck with it. I LOVE the slim trim barrel. Mine always shoots great.

I've been hoping to find one of these for years now.

I love the light contour barrel too. It came with a Bushnell fixed 2.5X scope also but I took it off. I will most likely put a peep sight on it. It's way too light and Handi to add scope weight to it.

The OP's Maxi is on neither, it's on a cast iron frame made by H&R Inc(out of business in 1986)before SB1 and SB2 frames were made by NEF which started production in 1987. The Maxi was also factory available by H&R sometime after 1987 in an Ultra model on an SB2 frame.

Tim is correct, it's a model 058 which is a cast iron frame.

I took it to the range yesterday and tried some 180 grain SSP's over Lil'Gun. I was only shooting at 25 yards using the factory open sights, I'm waiting for the target knob peep sight to come in before I shoot it at longer distances. 18.5 grains gave me a 0.3" group which is about as good as I can shoot with open sights. She's definitely a keeper for sure.
