Was talking to the wife earlier this week. She want's to go and do thing that we used to do back years ago, before Sky came along. So I made a list of things we plan on doing this summer.
1. Drive up the Haul Rd, and look at the wildlife. Be ready to hunt Bears if any are seen.
2. Float the Delta Clearwater. Take a raft and float this stream down into the Tanana River. Fishing as we float.
3. Drive the Denali Highway. Go to Dicky Lake, (source of the Gulkana River) camp there for a couple of days fishing the lake. Then go on to Deadman Lake for some more fishing.
4. Hike Granite Tores, a trail that goes to these huge rocks that stick up out of the Tundra.
5. Take the 4-wheeler back to the Wood River for a few days.
6. Fish Minto Flats, for Pike. 40 inchers are common.
7. Hike in to Tolavana Hot Springs, for a weekend.
8. Fish the Gulkana River at Sourdough for Kings.
9. Drive to Valdez and go Halibut fishing.
10. In August hunt Caribou in the 40 mile.
11. In Sept fly into Wild Lake, hunt around the edge of the lake by raft. Then float down the Wild River to Bettles on the Koyakok.
This means something almost every weekend. Going to be a busy summer. Planning a hunt on the Haul Rd this weekend. Glad she is wanting to get back into things again, now that her baby is big enough to take care of himself. He's 23 time to let him go. Yes he is still living at home, but he only sleeps here. He is at the university the rest of the time. He is working at a research lab for the summer, so we won't see much of him.
