I am from a town < 75 miles from Speedway, In. The 500 is not just a race, it is THE RACE.
Having moved here to Mn. I realized it is not the be all end all of all of American sports.
I'll be honest it was pretty much a year round topic back home. Matter of fact Larry "Boom Boom" Cannon lived a couple blocks south of me, I actually was able to turn a wrench on a real Indy car ( I was 15 and it was very minor).
Do you guys have any sacred cows you have had to witness being slaughtered?
