Need some ammo recomendations for a 2" Taurus Poly Protector in 38.

Federal makes low recoil .38 spcl ammo with 110gr Hydrashok bullets. It's not +P pressure so it's safe in any .38. I'd practice with whatever is the cheapest in standard velocity 158gr lead bullet loads if you don't reload.

I took the Taurus out and tested some ammo. My main goal was to get used to the gun as it has been several years since I shot a centerfire revolver. 25 rounds Remington 130gr mc, 25 rounds Federal 158gr lrn and 25 rounds of reload match ammo. Recoil was not bad with all 3 types. Single action was nice. Double action after a few rounds got easier. The rubber finger groove grips help a lot as I added them to my 669 Taurus SS 357 years ago. After some practice I think this gun will be a fun gun to shoot and functional as a ccw. I was getting mop at 15 yards which I think was good for my first time out.
