T/C Hawken Question
« on: February 01, 2004, 05:04:35 PM »
I have a 50 cal. T/C Hawken and I was just wondering how difficult it would be to open the barrel channel on the gun to accept a 1" across the barrel instead of the 15/16 that I currently have.

T/C Hawken Question

My guess is_ he"s thinkin bout put"n a "fifty eight" barrel onner!!

jrkrk_ does raisea question in regards of some thots I had years ago_ bout doin the same thing!

My thots at thet time was___ not only must you "widen" the barrel channel_ but_ you must also "deepen" it as well!
The "foreend cap" would also need the sides and bottom enlarged_ and after all this was done__ the barrel will still still sit slightly "higher" in tha stock!

The "lock plate" would also be sightly "out" from its mortise (plate edge might require "beveling" with a file)!!

Now!!__ lets give the "wedge tennon" some thot!! It will be too "high" if the barrel channel is "lowered"!! If the "wedge tennon" is "lowered"__ will the wedge "THEN" interfear with the "ramrod chanel""??

Thets about as far as I got to thinkin bout the "modification" back then_ cause I ordered "parts" from TOTW_ and built an Early Hawken fullstock!!

jrkrk____ is thet kind"a "what" you had in mind????  :D
"Modern inline" is an old mountain-man phrase,... fer "butt-ugly club"!!
