Encore: Laminate/ Stainless question...
« on: February 01, 2004, 05:11:17 PM »
I'm in the market for a new encore and have been looking pretty hard at the laminate/ stainless 209x50 at the local Gander Mountain.  I was wondering where to find the matching laminate forends for the 7mm-08 barrel that I plan on buying.  I talked to the guy at the counter and he didn't have much for answers.  I've heard that Eabco and others carry laminate parts but will they match up?

I'm new here and appreciate all of the posts... I've been reading for about 2 hrs. and every post I read seems to add to the list of "what barrel next?"...

I think I'm in trouble...

I would think that the gray laminate and brown laminate stocks are pretty much standard colors.  I believe that the factory laminate stuff is identical to the Boyd Bros. stuff that I have on my rig.  I've got the gray.  There are some custom stock makers out there that make wild colored stuff too though.

Laminate forends...

Str8shooter,

You can get those matching forends from Fox Ridge Outfitters, Thompson Center's custom shop.  Go to the website for T/C, then to the custom shop, look under muzzleloader options.  The forends are there, you just have to dig around a little.

I would go to EABCO's web site and order there.  Good service & terrific looking stocks, I bought the pepper laminate for my stainless Encore and couldn't be happier. :-D  Their forends are listed under "Special Accessories"

Thanks for the info. guys... I really appreciate it.  The pepper laminate looks great.  That might be the way I want to go.

I have EABCO's nutmeg-colored laminated stock/forend on my blue Encore and think they look great. Nutmeg wouldn't look as good on stainless, however.
While the stock and forend are not identical, they compliment each other very well.
BTW, they are now on sale for $99/set.

Runs with Scissors,

I'll have to disagree.  I think mine looks pretty sweet.

Glad you disagree. I have to agree that your pistol looks great in stainless with nutmeg-colored wood.

I just picked up a laminate stock set (black and  ilver like one of the ones pictured) it came with the rifle forend and muzzle loader.......after I bought it, and I believe it came from Fox Ridge, I found out Ebco had a special on them and it was less.....hahah...go figgure!!...but I am happy with it and for the people who like heavy better than to light, it fits the bill...it replaced the synthetic stock which I may just get rid of.......hahhaa...like the looks of the laminate but think the nutmeg looks sharper......just my thoughts.....WW1

Another great place to get what you need for the Encore and just about any weapon is a auction site like ebay which is gunbroker.com. This is where I'm getting my barrels and reloading equiptment.

I got my three piece set stock, ML fore arm, rifle fore arm from boyds in nutmeg laminate to go with my stainless. I paid about 115. for all three shipped to me. Boyd Bros. is hard to beat direct. Pete

fore ends

DON'T just look at color-HANGERBARS will be very important when you go to centerfire. Makae sure that the foreends will accomodate hanger bars if you want good and consistant accuracy
