Has anyone tried this bullet for reloading or the factory loaded ammo and how did they shoot? been trying to get the 240 xtp to shoot out of mine with both w296 and 2400 with less then expected results. Rather than another powder was thinking a differenent bullet may help.

I've posted on the FTX ammo many times, shot at 100yds, peep sighted Handi.  ;) Have also shot the 240gr XTP over H110, and the factory 240gr ammo, but that target was shot at 50yds with a scope. Both were out of the box, first time to the range. The 44mag that shot the upper target is now a 445 Supermag, and the other 44mag is now my octagoned 444 Marlin.  ;D

That's all I shoot out of my 44 mag. It shoots so good with that factory ammo, I don't even bother to reload for it.

The factory ammo shot beautifully even out of my older over bore Handi.  This was shot with the FTXs sighting in the rifle the first time.  This is the last shot at 75 yards.

I haven't reloaded with the FTXs, but I bought a jug of Leverevolution powder and I'm going to try it with both the XTP and the FTX.

Pete the leverlotion powder isnt used in the 44 mag ammo. Mine shot the factory stuff pretty good today. I just today also bought the bullets to reload. Just putting one in a empty case trying to get a col it can be seated way out and releave some pressure and get closer to the riflieng which hopefully will improve accurace also. They list w296 so i am going to try that. I am going to open a factory load and see what the powder looks like.

Well I opened a factory round an I will be damed if it doesnt look just like 296. it was as 22 grains. They list the max at 21.3 on the web site. I loaded some at 21.5 and 22.5 with a long col of 1.80 which is half way between the cannelure and the base of the bullet. also the max load of 2400 was 14.3 for 1400 ft se that they listed. With the 1.80 col I loaded 14,15,16 grains. Hopefully this will help. Also had some barrel wobble when opened so fixed that with a little electric tape between the forearm spacer and forearm. The only other thing it could be if this dont work is the fit. It was factory done but as i previously mentioned the release is all the way up when closed and no movement at all. So high the hole in the release latch is visable clearly. i hope i dont have to send it back.

I didn't think I had any of the 225gr FTX ammo left, but I have one left, pulled the bullet, powder looks like Lil'gun to me, it's the same size and shape kernal, I don't have any W296, but I have H110 which is supposed to be the same as W296, the H110 is a much smaller kernel and granular compared to the Lil-gun which is little flat pancakes just like the powder from the FTX ammo, weight of the powder is 21.3gr(RCBS digital scale), indentical to the FTX W296 data tho.
