Yes, inletting these encore / contender stocks does have it's challenges.
I'm still inletting the stock I'm working on. It's a slow process. With lack of foresight, I cut out the rough angle / inlett for the action floor on the table saw using multiple passes. That went well, and then I discovered how difficult it is to drill holes on an acute angle. I ended up inletting the 5/8ths hole with an air die grinder. Next time, I will drill the required holes before I cut the angles.
Doing the fine inletting with round files and a scraper now. I may bed the floor of the action with Devcon or Marine tex or similar.
I am sleeving the bolt hole with a piece of aluminum arrow shaft that fits the 1/4 x 20 bolt perfectly. It will be epoxied in place. Condsidering bedding the action shaft / hole also........we'll see. Not suer how important it is to have the hole fit the shft like a glove, never having had a chance to "inspect" a professionally made encore stock.
Pat, what do you have in mind for the bolt, at the bottom of the grip, to cover the bolt head? I was thinking of making a brass bushing, to countersink into the grip and have the bolt head recessed into the bushing.
I'm always interested in others ideas.......
