Author Topic: Another Folding stock for a Handi (Read 3160 times)

Mossberg shotgun hand grip, Tippman folder.
Cut the round part off of the front of the folder, and fit the hand grip to the receiver and the folder. I had to modify a hardware store bolt to fit flush in the folder slot. The shotgun grip makes it feel more solid.

I like it!

But remeber the idjits at F-troop might not.
So be sure not to "exceed" their limits on shortness and compactness.

When I did a search for Tippman foldin stock all I cam up with was for paint ball guns. Do you have a location to see spec. on this stock. Thanks Tom

I chucked up the bolt in my mini-lathe (electric drill),
.....got out my high speed grinder (dremel),
...and beveled the head so it looks like a big screw.
Then I put a blade on the dremel and cut a couple of slots for a screw driver.

The round part I cut off of the front is what fits into the paintball gun.
Specs? no, $20 on eBay.

These are on eBay from $75 up.

ATI MOSSBERG 500 6 POSITION SIDE FOLDING TACTICAL STOCK
They still have to be fitted to the receiver,
......but there is no paintball in their name.

I bought one, I'll try it.

......maybe it will suit the 300BLK well enough that ATI will make them for the Handi!

How strong does the tippman stock seem to be, do you think it would hold up to say a .223 or a .357 . I like the design of the tippman better, but wounder how it will handle the kick of a rifle.

I think the Tippman will take more kick than I want to.
I guess this thread isn't done until I put a 45/70 on it and test it out.

Well I was headed for the range to test some loads for a 6.5 MC.
I took the Choate Varmint off and put the Tippman on.

The range guys had to measure it before they would let me shoot it.
That's a 5 round group, and I called the flyer before I looked.
The zero is left over from the Choate, those are the first 5 rounds with the Tippman on it.

I still have to try it with the 45/70, but it works with this one.

It is very solid,
and it looks like it may just bolt on.

As long as the barrel was > 16" and the OAL > 26" with the perma-attached folding stock extended, then you're F-Troop OK.
Curious if they knew what the regs when measuring?

It has an 18" barrel, but they kept talking about the stock on my pistol.

Garbhead bothered me more than the guys at the range when he commented about shooting it folded. That seems like a surefire way to get an idiot mark from the scope, but that would mean it has to be 26" folded.

6.5MC is almost 6.5TCU rimmed,
the 6.5TCU is shortened a tenth of an inch so it can be formed from Maxi-brass.

Some fire-forming loads I took a picture of(with 22Jet.)

These four are on my loading bench:

From the left:
6×45mm - Case capacity, 26.9 grains of water
6.5MC - Case capacity, 25.7 grains of water
6.5 Grendel Case capacity is 35.0 grains of water
300BLK - Case capacity, 25.1 grains of water
(The capacities are from the net, I didn't measure them)

I got this in today,
It is very solid,
and it looks like it may just bolt on.

New lowest price is $55.
They don't just bolt on, it took some fitting.
...but! it is solid. If I wanted a folder on a 45-70 I would use one of these.
Now all I need is the 300BLK to put it on.

I like the look of the mossberg folder a lot!! I have some questions. fitting was just grind the face of the stock to match the back of the reciever? Does the stock bolt fit fine, Longer? Shorter? how is the height for using your scope? Any further comments on your experience with it so far are greatly appreciated.

The stock is a heavy black plastic.
I used a blade on a dremel
...and mostly cut a slot for the edge of the back of the receiver to fit into.
It's an easy material to work, but this is the third one like it I have done.
(There is a learning curve)

I used an older screw-type stock bolt that was a perfect fit.
A hex-head would have to be ground much smaller and have a slot or 2 cut for a screw-driver.

It comes with an adjustable cheek-piece that I haven't installed.
The adjustable cheek-piece may be perfect for a Handi since different barrels might call for different heights.
The cheek piece seemed OK for this set-up.

I would comment that people who should know better saw a pistol with a stock.

I am not a big fan of bureaucrats.
I have to have a drivers license and plates on my truck,
........but I don't have to have an SBR,
........or a suppresor,
........or a full auto.
So that is paperwork and regs I can skip, (and toys I can do without.)

Thanks for the nice words.

That fore end is the one that comes with the ATI collapsible stock.
