I have posted here about my Type 38 Arisaka. It is rebarreled in 260 Rem., Has a Timney side safety trigger set at 3 lbs. with a birds eye maple manlicher stock.
The gun is very accurate and has become my favorite deer rifle hands down. It's only flaw is that it is a litttle hard to close. You have to overcome the firing pin spring to close the bolt.
The other day someone replyed to a post I made a few months back on another site and is sending me the information I needed. Brownell's Gunsmith Kinks 4 Page 334 gives the details on how to convert an Arisaka to cock on open. I can hardly wait to get this done and I will have the Perfect deer rifle.
I know there are a few of you that shoot the old Japs. too and might like this.
