« on: June 14, 2012, 05:00:35 AM »
I never heard of Eley ammo, but need to find a few thousand rounds and came across this brand. Anyone have any experience with it?

A lot of the members at my club shoot ARA (American Rimfire Association), the range is littered with Eley cases.

I went ahead and picked up a 100 rounds to see how it shoots. I did a little digging on the web about Eley and apparently a lot of the Olympic shooting teams use it so that has to be a plus.

Is this a .17HMR or a .17M2 (Mach 2)?  I'm a bit confused.  But that isn't unusual for me.

I have read many guys get excellent accuracy with the Eley!

I haven't shot it my self as no one around here sells it. Every time I try to order it on line the seller is also out of stock...

CCI and Hornady both shoot precision groups, I cannot imagine the Eley doing better. ;)

I say try it!!

I bought some Eley from MidwayUSA and found it a lot cheaper at another site(CRS has hit me again)If I remember correctly the Ely is made in England(surprised it doesn't leak oil), but I like the way it shoots.. Gonna try some CCI and/or Hornady also.......Its all too expensive  IMO

i like the ely. shoots as good for me as any of the other brands. still using what i paid less than $4.00 a box several years ago. i shoot it in my h&r m2,10-22 converted ruger and contender also a polish trainer that i had rebarreled. have not had any accuracy problems in any.
