Really wish for some Regs. change now

I just bought a 336 Marlin in .30-30. The trajectory of this round is pretty much right on par with my muzzleloader, better than my 12 gauge with foster slugs but no better than my slug gun if I had a slug barrel, not as powerful as the .460 or .454 with a 20 inch barrel, no where as powerful as the .358 hybrids....Why can't we use this round yet for deer hunting?

I guess I can hope and pray that someone that makes the regulations will buy one and then want to use it deer hunting here in Indiana.

Probably because it is a "high powered rifle" that you can buy at any Wal-mart and I don't think the DNR is wanting that to happen.  I use a .358 Hooiser and it is very powerful, but you can't just run out and buy one.  I can see merit in not allowing guns like the 30-30, just go to Wal-mart Friday night before opening day and see how many idiots are buying slug guns and slugs, can you imagine if that were the case with high powered rifles?  Plus, what caliber do we stop at?  If the 30-30 is allowed, why not the .243 or .308, I think there is a nice balance right now.  I just wish we would shorten the gun seasons or require a doe before a buck.  We just don't have the open country for high powered rifles, where I hunt, there are houses withing a mile of me and many times have you drove down a country road and seen hunter orange in a tree from the road?   Now this is just my opinion and you know what they say about those!!

i would like to see all straight wall rifle  rounds from 38-55 up .

It would be great if they allowed 444 Marlin or 45-70. Both can be very accurate in Lever action rifles, or single shot Encores or Handi-Rifles. They just need to increase the case length a little more.

444/45-70 can be used just shorten the case and seat the bullet out some .works great and you dont lose much if any powder room

I doubt you see the change in rifles made to include the 30-30 anytime soon.  A couple of the lobbying groups are unhappy that the case length was increased to 1.8" already.  They also don't like the xbow law and want to shorten and move the gun season.  Plus the perception that a 30-30 is  a "high powered rifle" doesn't help.
There is always the option of shooting the 30-30 out of a TC handgun.  That's legal.
