Does anyone know a simple way to convert a H&R Handi-Rifle to extraction only? Those little Hornet cases are hard to find if your thumb does not block the ejection....... :oops:

Bob how do you like the H&R in the Hornet? I`ve wanted one for awhile now myself.

There is a H&R forum on the H&R 1871 web site and there has been a lot of talk about changing to extractors. I'm a novice myself, but there is a lot of good info there. Give it a try. There is a search feature that will let you find the threads. Good Luck.

Look in the NEF-singleshot group on Yahoo, in the files section there are several files on changing the ejector to an extractor.

I had an H&R Handi Rifle (nickle) in 22 Hornet! You're right that ejector will throw the case a long way and they are hard to find!

I took the stock off and removed the spring that is on the ejector! It worked, but sometimes when "pushing" the powder charge a little, the case would stick and I'd have to poke it out with a cleaning rod! Most of the time, it worked just fine!
