I had the same problem in my area, and never did find a good source.

No problem though, I just found a good source online and ordered my own.  You have to pay shipping and Hazmat but if you order at least four or five pounds, you will be getting a lower price per pound than you would at the gun shop.  And I mean shipping and Hazmat included.

Here's a good one:

Best place to buy it is at a BP shoot or thru a local club, lots of shoots this time of year and in the following months, Sedro Wooley looks like a good one next weekend.

I was told that you wern't allowed to sell a can to a friend..ie..has to be sold by a licensed dealer..Friend came up with 3 lbs. Goex 3f and a buncha caps, balls, lube, patches etc. I bought alla his extras as he was giving up BP shooting and he GAVE me the powder...
Lost between sunrise and sunset yesterday-one golden hour...never to be found or reclaimed:-(

Check the Goex website for their dealers/distributor list. If there are none listed close by, then the already mentioned Grafs is good, but better prices yet come from www.powderinc.com. They will ship in 5 lb lots, but it gets cheaper in 10 and 25 lb lots. Also Buffalo Arms in Sandpoint Idaho sells Schuetzen and Swiss and will ship in 5 lb increments.

Totally agree on Powder Inc.  Recently myself and four friends went in together on a 25 lb. order.  That brought the price down to $13.00 per lb., which included shipping and hazmat fees!

Don't tie yourself up like that, depending on someone else.  Just wait till you have the cash for five pounds, or whatever you need to get the best deal.  Or use the site that was suggested over Graff and Sons that has even lower prices.  He said they start at five pounds.  You know you can use the extra powder, it's not like you're gonna quit shooting.  At some point that powder is going to worth way more than you paid for it.

Grafs will send you just the 3 lbs if that's all you want. But buying it in 5lb lots helps offset the cost.

Bass Pro Shop has it but you have to ask.

id like 6 pounds, 50/50 FF and FFF. the problem with powderinc is that they sell a min of 5 pounds of each kind of powder and i really cant afford to buy 10 pounds at a time at the moment, heck i can barely afford 6 pounds.

i just got into this hobby and am already around $1800 into to it, so i need to take it easy on the $$ for a little bit. that being said im down to a 1/2 pound of pyrodex and that wont last to many more trips to the rock quarry.

will look into the bass pro shop

thanks

Powder inc will sell you 2 lbs of 2f and 3 of 3f or vise versa or any combination of the two sizes of powder you want as long as it doesn't make more than 5 lbs. But if you look real close going with a 10lb order doesn't cost all that much more than a 5 lb box.
I have bought numerous 5 lb boxes of powder from them when trying different powders . So I know for a fact they'll mix sizes and brands in a single order.

no bass pro shop in WA state.  :(

will look more into the two websites mentioned.

edit: after checking the prices between graf and powder inc, Ive discovered grafs is cheaper for smaller orders and will allow me to order 6 cans instead of 5.

prices below are for Goex black powder
10 cans of powder at Powder inc is $179.99
10 cans of powder at Graf and Sons is $183.35
5 cans of powder at Powder inc is $114.75
5 cans of powder at Graf and Sons is $108.40

both websites are important to remember, thanks all!
