I have the old one and to say I love it is an understatement. I do have to say that I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that they can even call this new gun an A5. From what  I've heard the only similarities between this gun and the original A5 is looks. I dont consider this gun an A5, but I will have to live with it.

From what I've read, the new A-5 operates the same way the Benelli operates.  Recoil operated, but the barrel doesn't move like the old A-5.  I have a Benelli SBE and love it.  Easy to clean, very few moveing parts.  Can take it down to the firing pin without tools.  The original A-5 was very complicated to disassemble and reassemble the bolt and firing assembly.  However, I've never had to do it with the two A-5's I've had since they were recoil operated, they didn't get that dirty, neither does the Benelli.  Gas operated guns get dirty and have to be cleaned often.

I handled all 3 versions at the SHOT Show last Jan. in Vegas.  They aren't your Dad's A5,  I was greatly unimpressed with them, should have assigned a different model number to them  Not a fan of the quality for 1400 bucks.  Have 3 A5s, 2 from the 30s and one from 62, would not trade any one of them even up for the new ones.   The Browning self loader I shoot the most is a 2000 from 74, have 3 different barrel set ups for it and it covers anything I hunt for or shoot.  The shop I help out at, no one has showed any interest in them.  Seems like everyone is Bennelli crazy.

You have got to try the Benelli.  It is the easiest to clean of any shotgun I have ever had.  I have Remington 1187's, Browning Golds, Browning Auto 5's, Beretta's, and the Benelli SBE.  The Benelli hands down is my favorite.  Light, simple, most easy to clean, screw in chokes, etc.
