My Gardens Are All Mulched In

  And growing fast!  These picts. are a few days old,
 
  Front garden,
 

 
  Back garden,
 

 
  All that mulch controls weeks, holds moisture and is food for next years plants!  AND, did i mention there's NO weeds??  lol

  A mix grass from my food plots...
 
  I use what ever i can get, grass clipping/leaves from the townies or something i cut from my place out here.  I've been doing this for MANY years, and it works perfectly...

  I have no problems with deer eating anything in my gardens, even when they walk through them.
 
  I plant anything rabbits like in the front garden and as you can see, i have 16' pannels made up to put around it.  They are very easy to put up in the spring and take down in the fall.  I then store them under the eves of my little greenhouse, leaning on the wall.  It's a system that works perfectly and is very easy to use.

I buy wheat straw every year.  Best to let it age a year and use it the second year.  I get some wheat germination but the summer heat soon kills it.  Makes nice black dir.  I also have a compose tumbler that I add to the garden mix.  I think the wheat straw is actually better than my kitchen compost.  My compost is often too wet.

  Naaaa, the deer around here have so much to eat, they just don't bother my gardens.
 
  I never worry about weed seeds, if you mulch heavy enough they will never be a problem.

I just got my perennial garden and Indian garden mulched, It's always a great releaf when it is done. I don't worry about them drying out so much, and the weeds are far an few between. I plan to just keep the mulch in place full time on these gardens.
 
I doubled the size of the Indan garden this year, and you can really see the difference where the mulch has been in place for three years.

That's it. I don't really grow anything very worthwhile in it, dry field corn, dry pole beans and 4 kinds of squash. All of this stuff could be bought cheap, but I read a book called Buffalo Bird Woman's Garden. The book kind of inspired me to think differently about gardening. My Indian garden is becoming my favorite.
