I met this craazy old hippy yesterday
« on: June 22, 2012, 06:21:08 AM »
He was absolutely convinced that Obama stands for everything the hippy movement was about back in the 60's-70's. I personally wasn't closely affiliated with the "hippy" movement as I was stationed on various bases in Asia at the time so my perception might not have been correct. I felt the hippy movement was about being against the war and protesting government to reduce it's grip on the people it is supposed to serve. Of course they wanted free drugs and love also. This old creep felt all media was propaganda (who doesn't) and that we are all fools being mislead by the government. When I asked it was aparent he has no idea what is happening with Obama and Holder, the incredible corruption, or even their continuous attack on our civil rights. But he believes Obama is his messiah. Know anyone like this?

Thinking about it further I believe Obama and his regime are exactly what the hippy movement was against.

  "Know anyone like this"..

Not really, I always avoided the hippy types.  FRom what I did see of them..lazy, dope smokers, living in communes, hate the military, churches, cops and the people and businesses that keep this country operating..plus added sex..drugs...rock & roll...
Seems to me Obumnmer and his cabinet would fit right in with the hippies..

Yes, there are lots of them.  They don't know many details...they want to be liberated, but vote for restraints on everything.  They confuse the word liberal with progressive socialism....they think conservative is a bad word, even through to make ends meet they live conservative and do the opposite of the government.  They are really messed up with these word games.

I work with a woman like that, she's a true Obamabot. It doesn't matter if you use facts to prove how bad Obama is, in her eyes he can do no wrong.

Kind of describing the commune movement aren't you? All living together sharing the labors and the fruits thereof?

'Cept for one thing, some folks are lazy as cat crap. You cannot even embarass them into a good days labor. Oh, they have no problem sharing the fruit. That labor thing? well it gets in the way of genteel thoughts, phylosophy and such. No their contribution is to lead the DUMB OXEN who toil all day.

These Commies are in charge now. Take up your yoke like a good OX and pull hard millions are depending on you.

A commune will kick you out if you don't contribute. The hippies that I knew are mostly NRA members now. People that are raised right will do the things that they were taught are "the right things to do". People that don't have to grow up often don't. ear

Hippies, as I remember, were basicly 2 different cults. One was the commune type where everybody worked, no marriages, few morals. The other was simply the gimmee everything lazy butt types as many folks are today. Like the ows, unwashed, irreverant, disrespectful, arrogant, and of no apparent value to society.  POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Yeah definitely. She used to go on rants about Bush all the time. Every time Obama does something that Bush did I point it out to her but it doesn't matter, her messiah can do no wrong.

I don't think I ever knew any hippies for sure, but I did know some dopers and unmotivated types.  They're all dead.

That reminds me of a Ted Nugent quote:

"Jerry [Garcia] got high and Jerry's dead. I went hunting and I'm still Ted." - Ted Nugent

But Jerry was a diabetic and never a well man half his life....he made it quite far nonetheless.  His music surpasses Ted's scales by lightyears in both sentiments and melody.  Something Ted probably can't get is, its not how long you live_ _its what you did while you were here.  Besides, I don't think Ted has an ice cream flavor named after him.... :D .

Jerry only sounded that good because he had Phil Lesh playing behind him.  :P Can you tell I'm a biased bass player?

I believe Ted would tell you that music is a job, a means to an end. That end being pursueing the outdoor dream. The man seams pretty satisfied with his life. A hunting ranch in Texas and another in Michigan. Goes on a hunting season long vacation every year. I'm guessing Uncle Ted would give up music before hunting.

I enjoyed much of Jerry Garcias music. No doubt he had wealth enough to enjoy himself as he saw fit. None of anybody's business what he did with his health or money. Ted would rather hunt, Jerry would rather party with his comrades. Neither is wrong, Ted is available for comment, Jerry not so much. I believe Teds point is that drugs are bad for your health.
