How to turn a Bowling Ball

Since this topic seems to be of interest or amusement I will post the rest of the pics .
 

 
The first question was how to hold it . The answer , install a draw bar .
 

 
Frst , drill & tap for 1/2-13
 

 
The draw bar with a centering collar ready to go . The rod reaches through the headstock and is retained with a big washer and nut .
 

 
As you can see , the jaws are useless in this application .
 

 
Ready for the first cut.
 

 
1st cut complete .
 

 
Drill & tap for the other side .
 

 
Passes guage , I did 11 balls in about 11 hours . Armorer77

How did you know you were centered and straight on the first drill and tap?

A good eye , and years of practice . Also the centering jig got me close enough . Ed

Ed,
In recalling past threads where guys with BBM's reported losing balls, and considering the time and effort you're putting into reducing the size of these; do you plan on attaching any brightly colored plastic ribbons like some others have? It might cut down on a lot of loud cussing being heard out on the range.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

I don't know about tails , but a blaze orange paint job is in order .
Now GOW , here the pictures of my radius cutter you wanted .
 

 

 

 
Here shown set up to cut a 1.23" ball mold . The tool is German , and so is the only manual available . Armorer77

IF someone wants to compare... google Holdridge Radius Cutter and you can see a wanna-be of the tool Ed has.  I am drooling with envy  :P

The only flaws to this tool are the graduation lines are ,008" and the only owners manual is in German . Ed
