If everything works out, I will get a chance to go up with the grandsons, daughter, SIL, and the other grandpa. The if is that traffic is punishing coming home on Sundays and the wife is still recovering from here hip surgeries and my extra time from work is gone right now due to the nedical things, and work load.
The kids have a jeepJeep, so I have offered to trade them the truck so they can haul the stuff up, and I will follow in the jeep. The road is unsuitable for cars.
They can (will) take an old knock around 12 ga. Maybe a .40, .357, or a .38. It is up to them to decide All they have of their own is a .25 and .22 right now. I may also send one of the .243's i have earmarked for the grandsons (3 and 4) years.) This is mountain lion country, and the bears will be prowling because of the drought, they are tenting. Lions have taken small kids a few times. Even the .38 will make noise, and my daughter can keep it with her instead of that doggoned .25. Naturally, there will be a .22 somewhere in the pile..
I am eager to get these wee ones started on the outdoors path, what ever they decide. The 4 year old already caught on to tne .243 when I took it over after buying it. Knew already how it should point, what the trigger does, and that it is too heavy yet. Also, they both knew to ask to see the gun.
