  • Oh father of the four winds, fill my sails!
I missed this last November, and it's pretty grim.

Dead at the hands of White Plains kops:

Man in home... his Life Aid bracelet (medical alert) is inadvertently triggered - police & firefighters/EMS dispatched... he tells them he's okay... they demand entrance. He refuses it, asks police to leave. They will not. Mr Chamberlain calls the Life Alert operator, asked them to call off the police, that he's fine. Cops bang on door for an hour, one of them calls him a nigger. Then they took door off hinges, forced their way in, taser him, then shoot him to death. Cops say he threatened them. The man was unarmed.

Grand Jury (secretive) sez it was OK, no charges. Doesn't sound OK to me.

Word is, the cop who called him a nigger and shot him, has a track record of beating people up... and calling them rag-heads. Maybe he thought Mr Chamberlain was a Muslim Tarr'rist.

With the recent upholding of Obamacare, I'm afraid we are and have lost a lot of our freedoms.  We have now entered a socialist state, doesn't matter which party now.  Far left = communist style socialism, Far right = Nazi style socialism.  Doesn't matter which.   Individual freedoms in America are going down the drain.

Also, this was in the north, not the south.

are you thinking that pending court case had bearing on what happened to Mr Chamberlain?

In White Plains NY... mentioned that in post - did I leave the impression it was south of Mason-Dixon?

Obamacare is just another case of government overreach taking our freedoms.  Same with police overreaching and taking our freedoms.

Usually whenever something racist happens, it seems as if northerners always are quick to make fun or blame southerners.  Same thing happens up north in the inner cities all the time.

You would hope that popo can't shoot a law-abiding man in his own home, wouldn't you? -but apparently they can.

Lol!!! Some folks will just automatically go the "blame the cops" route, they can't help themselves. Even in the face of a grand jury refusal to indict.....a group of citizens who's job it is to bring charges against wrongdoers.....I'd have to say there is probabaly a LOT more to this than the heavily slanted article reveals.

Cuts, I would be glad to see a differently slanted article... But where do you see the 'slant'? It just sound grim - guy killed in his own house by police - don't you think so?

Yeah, pretty grim, especially after you dig a little deeper than the above and find out he was armed and threatened the police. That doesn't usually work out real good for the moron involved.

The slant?......the lie in the above claiming that he was unarmed ::)

Yeah, I understand the cops said he was holding a knife. His family prob wishes he has a more effective means of defending hisself against uninvited invaders.

Yup, and he was making threats too!

From a distance of 12 ft a man with a knife can kill you before you can clear the holster. And we weren't there so we don't know what really went down, but the info above was obviously not the whole story. But whatever the story was a grand jury refused to indict....nuff said.

Police are dispatched to do welfare check on individual.
Police make contact with individual.
Individual tells police he is ok and does not need help.
No evidence of criminal activity is noted.
Police harass individual for over an hour.
Police then break into house without warrant.
Police then shoot and kill the individual.

This could happen to any of us the overreaching of government on all levels is pathetic.
Armed revolution is inevitable the government does not fear us and they control the ballot.

Nice suppositions, but that's not how it went down. We now know that we only got part of the story.

Yep, some supposition, some half-truths and looks like some lies.  But, we're supposed to believe the story and the OP despite the fact that the Grand Jury (with I'm sure much more info than we were supplied) found no criminal conduct.  How about this for a supposition:  Police are alerted to a call that the resident's medical alert bracelet has been activated.  They arrive at the scene to aid and assist and are refused entry by a "man".  If he refuses to open the door or provide ID, they have no way of knowing who this "man" is.  Could the resident who's medical alert was activated have been beaten or killed by this "man"?  Of course that's a possibility.  All the police know is that the alert has been activated, this "man" won't open the door, and when they do get inside, he pulls a knife on them.  Yep, yellowtail, clear cut case of police murder.   ::)

...or something close to it, looks like. Lots of leeway wearing the badge... killin' comes easy and without near the legal hazard/penalties most folks need to worry about if they're gonna break down some nigger's door and shoot 'em.

article here says the LifeLine company notified kops it was a false alarm, stand down. Didn't make a dint. They were in fear for their lives...

Quote
The police who came to Chamberlain's apartment in a White Plains housing project at 5 a.m. weren't responding to reports of a crime in progress, but a possible medical problem, after Chamberlain set off a Life Alert pendant, probably by accident in his sleep. A recording by the medical device in his home captured the horrific crime that was to follow.Despite the fact that Chamberlain told police he was fine, and the Life Alert company also reported the false alarm, police demanded to enter the apartment. When Chamberlain said through the closed door that he was okay, one officer responded, "We don't give a ----." Another officer can be heard referring to Chamberlain as a "nigger" and making a mocking reference to his Marine service.

Police then took Chamberlain's door off the hinges. They claim he threatened them with a knife before they attacked. Chamberlain's family disputes this, saying that video taken after the door was removed shows Chamberlain standing inside his apartment, wearing only boxer shorts, with his arms at his side and his hands empty

....
But grand jury proceedings are completely secret and controlled by the prosecutor, so the failure to indict almost always means the DA didn't want an indictment. The fact that DiFiore waited months to convene a grand jury, and reluctantly did so only after the Chamberlain family generated media attention about the shooting, suggests where her sympathies lie.In addition, she refused to reveal the name of the shooter, and confirmed his identity only after newspaper reporters discovered it was Officer Anthony Carelli. Carelli is currently being sued by two Jordanian immigrants claiming that he and other officers beat them with batons while they were handcuffed to a pole. They claim Carelli referred to them as "ragheads."

Additionally, police initially shielded the identify of another officer, who is heard on the tape, yelling at Kenneth Chambelain, "We have to talk, nigger!" Eventually, lawyers for the Chamberlain family revealed that officer to be Officer Steven Hart. Hart is also being sued in federal court by a Hispanic bank manager who claims Hart beat him during an arrest

....
The evidence in the Chamberlain case has now been made public, including a series of four calls from the medical alert company. It clearly shows that police unnecessarily escalated the situation leading to Chamberlain's death. In the second call, the company dispatcher tells a police dispatcher that the company has made contact with Chamberlain and confirmed he is okay. The company dispatcher attempts to cancel the emergency call, but the police dispatcher says police want to enter Mr. Chamberlain's home anyway. In a third call, the medical dispatcher attempts to patch Kenneth Chamberlain's sister through to police, but the police dispatcher dismisses her offer by saying they don't want to "mediate."In a fourth, the medical company dispatcher again attempts to relate an offer to have Chamberlain's son called to help deescalate the police confrontation. Eventually, the dispatcher takes a phone number for Chamberlain's sister, but apparently never made contact.

Police and local news accounts have highlighted Chamberlain's angry refusal to allow the police entry into his home, and the fact that he had consumed alcohol in his home. Left unexplained, however, is why police were so intent on gaining entry even when they were aware that the call was a false alarm.Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. had committed no crime, and police had no warrant or probable cause to believe that a crime was in progress. While they have characterized him as "delusional" and "emotionally disturbed," police have not explained why pounding on his door in an effort to force entry, mocking his military service and calling him "nigger" were the best tactics to gain control of the situation--or why they repeatedly spurned offers of help from his family. In one of the chilling recording, immediately before the door is taken off its hinges, Chamberlain announced that police were about to break down his door and do him harm. As it turns out, this is the most accurate testimony on the encounter available.

Yup That's the real facts alrighty! And how do you explain the Grand Jury refusing to indict? Could it be that there are facts that you don't have and the media isn't reporting? Hmmm? Donno, but I'm just guessing that the GJ had a lot more info than the media and we are getting.

And how woud you feel if the "perp" had lied to the security company was butchering his family, and the cops knocked on the door  and then went away while children and/or elderly were dying inside? ::) Hmmm?

You are attacking the police based on suppositions and slanted media reporting. Try again, maybe contact the Grand Jury panel and ask them why.........
