Breech plug..early, how do I remove?

I have what I believe to be a second generation Huntsman in 45 cal with a percussion cap breech plug. Think it maybe the O-ring type.  How do I remove the breech plug ?

my 45 cal uses the same tool tha early 50's did...
i'm sure these guys here will help you.
otherwise i need to see a pitcher of tha plug befor i can tellya...........

If it is an o-ring breech plug, you can push/knock it out from the muzzle with a wood dowel or range/cleaning rod.
 
If it is the push in/out breech plug it will be smooth around the nipple, but if it has holes on either side of the nipple, it is the screw in/out breech plug and you will need a spanner wrench with prongs that go into the holes.
 
The FAQ's might address this (possibly with pics), but am not sure.

Thanks guys;   Knew I could count on you , now to find a 32" x 3/8 dowel rod....and start pounding away.....

IT worked...had wife hold barrel over a nice carpet...inserted dowel and one good rap with a 12# hammer and it was out......

OK, now be very careful at the range, if you have a hang fire, it is possiable, and has happened, to shoot your self through the head with the breach plug if you open the gun too soon and have a delayed ignition.  I think this is one of the reasons for the demise of the origional H&R.  Larry

Also make sure you lube the breech plug.  I know you know that, but this is just a friendly reminder.

Thanks guys for all the insight. I was wondering , with all the metal surrounding the breech plug ,how about, tapping the barrel for a pair of set screws to add a bit of security to the system.
