It sure is hot
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:54:24 AM »
Was 106 on my front porch and 104 on the back yesterday.  Its already over 100 today.  I can't even think about hunting or fishing.  Just staying under the a/c is my main objective.  The dog likes the watering trough and the horse wants sprayed every time he sees me with the water hose.   At least we haven't had any wild fires in the area.   Talked to my brother in Montana and it got down to 49 there a couple of nights ago.   I feel a road trip/prairie dog shoot to the northwest coming on.
I hope the folks working outside are being careful in this heat.

Ain't that the truth. It was 105 here yesterday but this morning at 9:30 it was already 98 and at 2:00 it was 106. I figure we'll top out at least 110 today. We've only had about a half inch of rain in the last 45 days. Normal rainfall for this time of year is well over 6" for that period.

Im down (way way down) on the southern end of La. I was on a rooftop yesterday changing out a fan motor on an a/c unit. I noticed my temperature gun in my bag and made the mistake of shooting the temp on the rooftop itself. 156 degrees F and the humidity was close to 70%! Needless to say, I thought I was going to melt before I got it finished. I will never check temps again like that, some things are better off not known, lol!  Dave

Last week in Memhis a fellow was doing some kind of roof work and he ended up dying. His body temperature climbed to 109 degrees.
This heat is nothing to fool with.

:)  Howdy! I hunt sometimes in Arkansas and in Texas where I live. It usually is too hot to hunt during the early archery season. If you do happen to arrow a deer, you better find it fast and get it on ice. The cooler weather usually does not start until late October or early November in my part of Texas. Always, Gene

Archery season has opened on Oct 1 here in AR for as long as there has been one.  This year the all knowing G&F are opening it Sept 15.   Since the meat will spoil too fast, I won't be hunting until the weather is cool.   Besides that, muzzle loader season in CO opens on Sept. 8 and it will be much cooler there at 9000 ft. elevation.
