Scope Eye Relief

Hey guys... I am new to the forums, but am purchasing a new scope for my T/C Contender Super 14 in 7-30 Waters. The measured eye-sighting distance to the back element of my present scope is about 13 inches. If the scope I want is a constant 20 inches, does that mean any aiming distance shorter than that will be blurred, restricted, etc?  Many Thanks.

Since you say the scope you want has constant eye relief, I assume it's not a variable scope.  As for eye relief, generally there is a short distance (an inch or two) where the scope picture remains acceptable depending on the scope as some scopes are more forgiving than others.

I'm also looking for help on eye relief?  Also looking for mounts, rings and a scope for Encore.  What are good mounts and rings.  I see combo mount/rings that are welded to mount but then you have no room to adjust any particular scope to that type of mount/rings combo but it sure looks very sturdy and strong.  Also, will a scope with 35mm reticle fit on the Encore and what is a good range of x for a variable scope?

Are you shooting an Encore handgun ?   Which cartridge and barrel length ?   How far do you expect to shoot as a norm and as a long shot ? 
I have a 10'' 7mm-br that presently uses a Weaver base and Burris rings on a Leupold 4x because I dont expect a shot past 100yds.  Good bases are Burris and Leupold that use turn-in rings on which the rear ring is windage adjustable. Be sure to use a sheet of paper inside the rings as it helps them hold the scope.
A good / for the cost, scope is the Bushnell Trophy 2--6x or its upgraded twin the Elite. Shop around and buy a good used scope.  Leupolds are recommended many times due to their outstanding warranty.
In mounting your scope---center the reticle by traversing completely left then count clicks or revolutions right----then split that.  Use your base adjustments  until you are very close; then the internal adjustments.

The handgun scopes I use the most are Leupold 2.5-8X.  As for mounts, what you need depends on the recoil of the cartridge you're shooting.  For low recoil cartridges, about any mount will probably work.  For the heavier hitters like the 375 H&H Magnum, 444 Marlin, 460 S&W magnum and 500 S&W Magnum that I shoot, I use SSK Industries' 4 ring T'SOB base/ring system.


As for ring height, check with the seller of rings and they should be able to tell you.
