PM - If you kept up with the news, you would see even some black political leaders are saying that the "stop and frisk" tactics are doing more good than harm.  The ones complaining the loudest are the ones that are committing the illegal acts, and don't want to get caught.

Stuff like this would make me think about why I'm living where I'm living. Crime. Cops harassing. I guess it isn't all bad. It's when the cops STOP coming into a neighborhood that things are really getting bad.

The stop and frisk makes as much sense as the physical and sexual assaults to real Americans just to get on a plane. Suspect a criminal?? Frisk him, but don't do it to everybody just because you can. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I'd complain were it done to me. In fact, esp if there was no probably cause of any criminal activity, an no apology afterward (and NYPD types doing the frisking aren't much for apologies). Old School, I'm wondering.. do you think you might complain, after being frisked for no good cause except the officer felt like he should? And esp not for the first time?

First of all, CA is a state, not a city. When you exit the big cities here, you find that the majority of folks are just like anyone else in other parts of rural/small town America, "in every way."

It's when the cops STOP coming into a neighborhood that things are really getting bad.

Either that, or in an ideal situation, because there's no need for them to stop by anymore.

When I do see cops in my neighborhood (maybe once a month), I'm often delighted to find that they're questioning someone who obviously doesn't fit the "profile" of folks who live here. Cops are on 'em like a bum on a balony sandwich when someone calls about a suspicious character.

20 years ago we had quite a few tweakers breaking into houses/cars. No more though. Police responded to the problem, sometimes with a heavy hand. In other words, they did their job. Few years back, my neighbor was digging in the trunk of his car after midnight and a cop put his spotlight on him and asked for ID. Neighbor thanked him for checking and shook his hand.

First of all I am aware of the difference of the two, and have been to both. New York City is full of liberals wanting and needing financial help. The State of California is is full of liberals, wanting and needing financial help. That's why businesses from both NYC, and California are moving to MY STATE. To get away from their liberal mayors, and liberal governors. While the folks on the left coast are savin frogs, and fishes, we're eatin the frog legs and fishes. Oh yeah. Wear sun screen. ;)

I was in CA for six months in 2011 on a contract gig... I loved it. Spectacular mountain drives, the PCH, Planes of Fame... Very nice. And you can pull off the road and shoot, in some areas - so not quite so gun-hostile as I had expected (but I left my pistol at home). Fantastic food choices. Weed is near-legal. Apart from a gazillion other peeps who want to live there and clog the highways... It was alright.

Wrongo Bongo. You must have only spent a day or two at Disneyland when you entered the Golden Gate. Mickey obviously didn't give you the straight dope (hopefully to be legal soon :P ).

 Pay attention now...

The major cities are "full of liberals." The State isn't made up of cities, however. If you can let your Hollywood images of CA rest for a moment, imagine if you will >90% of the State covered with small towns, farms, ranches, mountains, deserts and beaches. Populated with rednecks just like me for the most part. ;)

Believe it or not, we even have guns (OMG!) here and can shoot them freely within the majority of them 90% of places I mentioned. Many of our hunting regs are even less restrictive than most states' similar regs.

Do we have problems? Sure! But it's much easier to deal with them with our toes in beach sand rather than snow..... In November.  ;D

LOL! You should be as sensitive to judges there overturning laws you vote on and pass, as you are to my opinions and remarks. My opinions and remarks are of one old guy in Texas, and don't mean anything to anyone. On the other hand, you guys vote in laws, and some judge tells you, "you can't do that" and ignores your vote, then suspendes the law you voted in. That's what I would be concerned about. My remarks don't even matter. Like I said. I'm just a crotchety old man in Texas with an opinion on a state 1,000 miles away. It don't even matter. Oh, and by the way. You can only have "certain kinds of guns there". So don't get too cocky. ;D

Oh no, Cali' has many more restrictions.  I doubt any of the guns I currently own would pass muster in CA.  No mag. locks, no trigger locks, too many rounds, flash hiders, you name it.   My single shot H&Rs may get by now that I think of it... then again they don't have an external safety lever so they may not pass either.   :D

I went to school with a couple of "real" ladies back in the 50s and 60s, whose first names were "Gay". We used to have a "gay ole time" with our friends when we were young, (nothing to do with "sexual depravity". I wonder how such a fine word got so "re-defined" to mean such a despicable and gross act.
Also, what does this "act" have to do with illegal searches in NYC. Is this "act" what is on someone else's mind? Certainly not mine. Is the "illegal search" not bad enough that "depravity" must be brought into the mix, to make it more "interesting?

LOL! Nuclear? Hardly. A poorly suited remark for an honest topic, hardly has the ability to cause an even slight personal quake, much less an atomic reaction. I just find it odd at times that some want to bring in "sexual perversion" into a conversation that is about everything but that.
I think I am more about why an adult would offer such a remark knowing, or perhaps "not knowing" that younger than 18 folks, read these comments. I am not trying to be, the class monitor here, as Bill can more than handle that. I am however concerned how young people view me. Perhaps you aren't. ;)

Well Dee, I can't argue most of your points above. CA politics & State courts suck. State workers' and other powerful unions make sure politicians who give them goodies get into office. Taxes are oppressive. Businesses are packing up. Environmental regs are nuts.

Far as gun laws go, I can't have a full-auto, silencer or 50 BMG. The >10 round mags I owned before the ban are the only ones I'll ever own. Some handguns are not "CA approved" for stupid safety reasons and I can't get an "assault rifle" (we have many legal versions of them though, thanks to the "bullet button"). Most everything else is legal. I can own and shoot a black powder cannon that launches water heaters if I want.  :)

Collectively, I refer to the above as the "CA Climate Tax." What I get in return for puting up with it all (at least where I live on the coast) is a house with no need for AC, an annual heating bill of ~$300, no nasty bugs to contend with, and flip-flops as standard footwear nine months out of the year.

 Got that anywhere in Texas?

Oh... And I'll prolly never be "stopped and frisked," because the cops can clearly see I'm not carrying anything illegal under my shorts and tank top.  ;D

"You have nothing to worry about if you're not doing anything wrong" kinda mindthink thing.....Some people think its OK to hassle and infringe on the rights of the majority of law abiding citizens in order to shake down a few bad guys, and to condition people to accept this kind of government intrusion as normal.  RINO Bloomberg must be one of those guys_ _but I don't think The Founder's were; nor our charter documents supporting such activity.  Seems to be mostly black and so-called minorities being shaken down, too....so far!

I'm sure your aware that most crime is black on black, so your suggesting that the Police go to a white neighborhood where there is no crime and stop and frisk white people?  Makes perfect sense, I guess I'll have to agree with you.

I've been stopped and frisked, on my way home from a graveyard tour, I made the mistake of stopping at an all nite place in a rough part of town.  The officers spotted a bulge, and stopped me, put me up against the wall at gun point, and took my gun away.  After I ID' myself, he told me that there was a problem with street kids and shootings.  The officer was a nervous nelly, and believe me, I didn't like the gun barrel in my face, but I just cooperated.  Your right no apology, but I felt he was just doing his job. I checked later on and found out that there were in fact two shootings (one resulted in a killing) on the street where I was stopped.

The boss is always white, other wise it doesn't fit the song and dance.

I believe we were discussing the Stop & Frisk policy, in NYC.  BTW the actual percentage rate of black and Hispanic to black crime is 96%.  There are more minorities in favor of Stop and Frisk in NYC than against it.  But, the ones that get all the publicity are the liberal politicians.
