Got to see a Medal Of Honor, earned through incredible valor. Aside from the thrill of the overall experience, the medal did make a poor impression. It looked like a cheap trinket. I would have thought that these were more finely crafted than they are. When you consider what had to happen to earn one, they cannot be made well enough.

+1, If I recall correctly, Napoleon said: "A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon".
 
 It's the man behind the ribbon, not the medal itself that is most impressive.   Most of the winners  are "Johnny Everyman" who were put in dangerous and extenuating circumstances, and performed magnificently.  I had the honor to know and serve with a posthumous DSC winner (he was originally nominated for the MOH, but it was downgraded).  IMHO he should have received the MOH, saved his entire team, and bled to death while doing so.

Lakota: In this case, I would be surprised to see that it was made in China. (It was earned during the 1960s.) Today, I wouldn't be surprised, though.

I went to a Marine Corps gradution ceremony, there were 32 Medal of Honor recipients present some from each branch of the services. A most impressive bunch of men. As OSR  stated  basically " Johnny Everyman" most were just trying to save a buddy. I 'll add what an  incredible group of men.

Never happen GI!  In all seriousness, that will never happen.  Use a little common sense, and think about it.  Just imagine it was so, what would happen?
