Colt Officers match target model 6" barrel 22lr
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:02:32 PM »
I picked up this colt officers target match model today at one of my local haunts.  This is a 22cal on a 38/41 sized frame.  I just couldn't pass it up.

I removed the side plate today and it had no lube in it.  I cleaned and lubed it with moly.  Now the awesome action was awesome before is slick as snot now. Even the older H&R revolers feel like the colt / s&w action wise once there lubed with moly.

Ive had the Officer's Mdl, Officer's Mdl Special and the Officer's Mdl Target, all were very sweet and likely 'fitting room' revolvers of an era long gone. They are a very fine and desirable acquisition; enjoy!

Hello, 1911crazy..You have one fine revolver!  I bought a .22 long rifle Colt Officers Model Target 30 years ago, just found out it was made in 1931..the cyl. chambers actually shine..must have burnished them.  Last Sat., there was a fun pistol shoot at local church..I decided to take the old revolver..after first cleaning out all the RIG it had been stored in for the last 20 some years!  I didn't do all that bad..these old guns can shoot!
Back in 1980, I entered it in a IHMSA rimfire silhouette match..25m, 50m, 75m, & 100m.
At home range, I made up a little chart with all the various sight adjustments..including a drwg. of screw slot orentation for precise elevation adj...had to remember to move front DOWN..for increased elevation!  I shot back position, with Kevlar leg shield.   Didn't do bad at all..but I don't think the Colt engineers had this game, with it's multiple sight adjustments in mind when they designed this sight!

They are very good shooters.  Mine is one of my better shooting revolvers, not sure if it is more accurate than my K22, but probably just as.
