It is pretty much a Germanic 32-40 (a friend has two original schuetzen rifles in it), so I dont see any downside to making yours in the 32-40 with much more affordable and available tooling and components, unless you have the money and 'just gotta'....
FWIW, and IMHO, the 30-30 makes an even 'better' schuetzen round; the bullet selection of cast .30 cal projectiles is way better. No slouch in the accuracy department and lots of data; .30 cal. barrels of your choice of weight are cheap and easy to get for a stub. Why stub a 30-30?, its that barrel length and weight thing for a target rifle; the stock H&R is just too short and light.
