Still showing class.
« on: July 07, 2012, 08:25:12 AM »
Quote
While Bush is following a familiar post-presidential path in supporting humanitarian causes, he would prefer to focus on quiet service, to lead through example and hard work.

He worked alongside other volunteers in Kabwe - Zambia's second-largest city - to renovate a health clinic which specializes in the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer.

“You're always the former president but I wanted to come here as a laborer...I do want to say that on this particular trip that myself and friends have left behind a clinic and hope to inspire others to come and refurbish clinics as well,” Bush said.

Unlike certain former presidents who tried to keep doing that job and influence policy and stay in the limelight after they left office.

Can you imagine our current president doing this?  Or at least doing it without a team of photographers to exploit it?

Good on Dubya.... Following somewhat the steps of President Carter.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

YEP,,,except the part where Carter makes sure EVERYONE sees him doing something good.
The greatest thing I ever seen Carter do was to lose to a far better man!

Funny, Jimmy C tried, and still tries, to stay in the limelight and for decades tried to keep doing the job of POTUS and influence policy.  Ditto for Billy Boy.

Bush has the wisdom to know that he is no longer president, just an ordinary citizen who had happened to do that job, and now his time for doing it has past. He doesn't seek publicity, don't think he really wants it.

I don't like Carter much, but I have to give him credit for starting Habitat for Humanity.

I remember seeing a clip of Clinton and Gore supposedly helping build a house. You could tell by the way they each held the hammers that they had never swung one in their lives.

bye- bye bush and good riddance.  our first mentally retarded president.

you're only claim to fame is that you were so bad; the country elected its first black president.

I thought our first retarded president was Ford...

How does this constructively contribute to the discussion.  Whoopdi do.  You don't like bush.  Fact of the matter is that he's had enough sense to keep to himself after his presidency rather than follow in earlier presidents shoes and try to influence politics.  And also he wasn't so bad that it elected our first black president.  He held two terms before.  The republicans selecting a poor candidate to follow bush are what got Obama Elected.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

SSSam....I think the point is Sam,,,there's a large population of citizen's in this country that think the lady without the leg shouldn't be dancing with Bush Jr; but should be punching him right in the nose _ _ because it was his collosso 911 screwup, piss poor GWOT planning, and hyjacked foreign policies that caused her to loose her leg...Frankly, if I was Bush Jr.....I wouldn't be talking much or holding court either.

Bush's fault for her losing her leg??  Why am I not surprised that was mentioned. Everything imaginable that has happened in the last 12 years has been "Bush's fault"

SSSam, Bush would not have the mental capacity to influence our policies.

But he was good at lying, taking away our civil rights, torturing, murdering our
young men and women, infesting the white house with the sleeziest scum
going. etc.  i could go on but why.

If the White House was infested with the sleazist scum then, just wonder what you think the White House has been infested with now.

So she made a desicion to join the military.  She lost her leg.  She made a decision to dance w/ W.  Ever consider maybe she gladly joined up and gladly danced w/ W?  Seems to me your putting a lot of words in her mouth...

He had the mental capacity to influence policy while he was in office... Why couldn't he now?  Good at lying, taking away civil rights, bla bla bla... What politician these days doesn't excel at that?  And you think BHO is a cut above?  Your ideals are laughable.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Not quite YT, Dubya hasn't called our best friend and the ONLY democracy in the mideast "an apartheid state"..  He hasn't gone round the world proclaiming how bad a country the US is.  He hasn't yet used his media accessability to try to tell the current president how to do his job.. even though the current prez does indeed need help.
Bush didn't take office claiming the mantle of Christianity...and then promote & defend the mass murdering, called abortion..

   Sorry YT; no comparison,..no cigar..

SSSam, I'm glad I amuse you.

But there are about 5,000 American families who lost loved ones based on bush's wars that aren't laughing.

That doesn't include the wounded, the suicides, the divorces, the toll of human misery his wars, based on lies, caused.

If the man had any class, he would hide.  He is not even invited to the Repubician Convention.  Shows you something.

BHO hasn't done anything near as destructive.

Really ? how many families don't have homes anymore ? how many divorces came from money related stress ? how many suicides from losing jobs ? How many lives lost in battles after Obama took office , from changing tatics etc. I don't think any president is proud of some decisions they have to make.
BTW Obama health care with death panels haven't began to rack up its toll yet , give it time  ;)

    Shootall;
You have worked on one of the "projects" undertaken by HH  therefore, you have some knowledge of their operation.  For those not familiar with HH, it sounds like a noble work.
I will not take time for details now, but I work very often with a Christian organization which does the kind of work HH claims to do.  This organization operates on meagre funds..none of the personnel get a dime of pay..from the founder/director to the youth employed in the jobs.  Many professional contractors work with this group...serving also without a dime in pay....and the financial book are open to anybody involved.  Recipients of help are seriously vetted; not habitual handout seekers need apply. help goes to the truly needy, especially those who have "fallen through the cracks".  Included are disabled vets, public parks in need and victims of real tragedy.
Suffice to say..we have experienced some facets of HH and will not do any joint projects with them.

I think what TM and Jersey are forgetting is that many of these soldiers who died in the sandbox gladly did it.  Some were on their 3rd or 4th voluentary tours of duty.  This isn't Vietnam where so many soldiers were forced into the service via the draft so quit making it out to be that and quit demeaning those who are proud to have served.  After 911 many in my graduating class of seniors were chomping at the bit to sign up to serve.  I'm sure this woman was no different when she made her decision to serve.  What you all forget is that for as many of you guys that go around preaching the evils of the "W" era, there are just as many if not more who gladly supported him, served their country and yes, some are in the ground now because of it.

This all depends on what spin you want to put on it.  While I didn't like a lot of W's decisions the fact that he will salute the flag and dane with a one legged veteren shows the fact that at least he can pretend to care.  Obama can't even muster that up.

Maybe.  But trying to argue that fact based on a picture of a one legged woman wearing an american flag prosthetic dancing w/ "W" is a pretty moot point...

The woman dancing with Bush looks like she did it of her own free will.
It seems that a lot of those in the services STILL respect Bush.
If it were obama at the dance I bet we would see how a one legged woman would fair in an ass kicking contest!
I don't know ANY armed  service  people that think of obama as anything other than the P.O.S. that  he is.

Ummm, he inherited a RECESSION from Billy Bob, and despite a terrorist attack barely 7 months after entering office that nearly destroyed the airlines industry AND the DOW, had about 6 pretty good years.  The last 2 years primarily resulted from the real estate bubble that BUSH had been pushing to address years before it collapsed.

I wasnt crazy about Bush to start with. I didnt even vote for him first time around as I voted for Harry Browne without regret and without appology. I did vote for Bush in 2004 becuase I got caught up in all of the "lessor of 2 evils" B.S. Bushy boy lost any respect I had for him when he told his leftist congress that he would sign an assault weapons ban if they passed one. After that I had no use for the man and I couldnt give a crap about what he is up to these days. He is just another left leaning turd of a politician.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?
