More than 100 new laws take effect Thursday  UPDATED 10:14 AM EDT Jul 09, 2012       In Kentucky, 15% of residents are uninsured. View Large    Photos   In Kentucky, 15% of residents are uninsured. FRANKFORT, Ky. -  A long list of new laws are set to go in effect this week, including one that will allow Kentucky to offer beefed up tax incentives to encourage automobile manufacturers and parts suppliers to expand production in the state.

Gov. Steve Beshear is heralding the new tax incentives as a means to create more manufacturing jobs in a state that's already home to Toyota, Ford and General Motors assembly plants and more than 400 related businesses.

Beshear signed about 150 bills into law earlier this year, nearly all of which take effect on Thursday. Some are aimed at cracking down on makers of methamphetamine, thieves who steal copper, even at rogue pigs that have been destroying crops in rural Kentucky.

  • I feel much better now knowing it will get worse.
I'm puzzled with the "Enough Already"
Which ones are not good for Kentucky, or if it easier, which are bad??

For the life of me I cannot see how these people can dream up more and more laws to deal with everyday life. Think about it. How many laws do we need to be able to function as a society just to be able to live our daily lives?? Multiply this X 50, not obamas 57,  and then ya got the feds too. Seems we waste $billion each year on folks that do nothing but dream up more restrictions for us to live under. If we all lived by Gods laws we would need no govt. interference. POWDERMAN.  ::) ::)

We as a society have become large and complex enough at least IMO that just 10 Commandments are not quite adequate to run the show.

Ummm.. God's laws don't stop at the 10 commandments..and then there is the New Covenant...

No need to worry though, such a thing would never be adopted...too many people already start stuttering and frothing at the mouth... as soon as they hear God's name mentioned.  ;)   ;D

The reason you have massive amounts of laws on top of laws already there, is simply because they don't enforce the laws already on the books. The legislative branch gets a little out of control. The more laws you don't enforce, the more laws you get on top of the ones you don't enforce, it never ends. Works the same way with just about everything else in government as well.  If you check into these things you'll find there were already several laws in place for any law they pass. State and Federal governments ran out of common sense long ago, they don't even follow their own laws and regulations, and none of them go to jail for anything they get caught doing. Truth is they couldn't run a bordello and make a profit, or offer a good product, but you'll always find people who stick up for governments and tell us we need government intervention. As things get worse and worse of course...those facts don't matter, it's an emotional thing.  ;)

I'll never agree with the rationale of having an elite group of people employed full time creating laws for citizens to obey. They vote in their own pay raises and  have now begun excluding themselves from the onerous laws they expect us to submit to. They're no longer our representives, but a new aristoracy. Deep down I suspect they'll carry on until the citizenry physically drags them from their ivory towers.

Politicians need to be unpaid, patriotic volunteers who enact only the most basic, necessary laws for maybe three months out of the year then are sent home to hold real jobs like the rest of us.

I have to agree with PM and Jimster! There are more than enough laws on the books now.We need less, not more.Enforcement of the sensible ones on the books would be nice.

Here are a couple we might think about removing.........In NYC it's against the law to urinate on pigeons.(Does that sound fair? :o )In Ca, A going out of business sale permit is required ::) .Here in my left coast state of Or. it's against the law to box with a Kangaroo in Myrtle Creek. I don't live that far from there, and I've never seen a fight between a Roo and human.Might be fun to see though! I hope they do away with that law. Put me in the enough already group.
