G-21 extended barrel buy.
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:40:19 PM »
You folks got me convinced I need to set it up as a 'hunting' gun.  So I'm beginning...

I can get a 6" LW NOW for $118, or save my pennies and get a KKM later for $50 more.  Not in a hurry but the difference means a fairly total package, more goodies right now instead of later.

Has to have the supported chamber and better accuracy than I can shoot, probably no lead for awhile, but later..?  I already cast other calibers.

So... let me know what you think please.

And why if at all, do I want a threaded barrel?

Think as if you LIFE depends on it... IT does..!  Be Well...

Threaded barrel?....for the addition of a LWD compensator  ;) ;D for when your "hunting" loads get into to the realm of wild.  But, in all actualality, on a hunting  pistol, I see no need for it. Now for rapid recovery during "gameing" activities, then a comp can be an asset.

I have just a standard threaded barrel on my 20 and the hotter the loads the better the comp works. With loads equal to 40sw the comp really doesn't do much but when they get hot aka a 155gr at 1470fps recoil is pretty much that of a 9mm+p+ and I'm still putting out 750ftlbs. If you are the type to need a follow up shot then a comp will help considerably especially with  the hotter roland loads. Other then that if you ever wanted to run a suppressor.
