JC Higgins mod 20
« on: July 09, 2012, 03:01:40 PM »
I'm swapping receiver/barrel on a mod20 12ga. The carrier latch pins inside the receiver on both sides. The receiver I'm swapping over to is missing these 2 pins and I can't seem to get them out of the old receiver. Any tips on removing them or where can I buy them?

Thanx

High Standard made it. I have my grandfather's 12 gauge that I used when I was a boy learning to shoot shotguns. I've promised it to my youngest grandson who will be five next month.

He thinks EVERYTHING we have is his already and says he ain't sharing it with his dad or anyone else, it's all his he says.

The xreference says its the HighStandard M200 which I've included a link to parts blow up. I am assuming you are talking about the 'shell stop pins' (no.16). These appear to be just pins. If so there should be a hole directly above, usually about a number 60 drill size, to either insert a punch or for the pins to exit as they are driven upward. Are these solid pins or role pins? I'd bet on solid. These should be available from GunPartsCorp.. Or just make your own.. I prefer spring stock and leave it soft or just at the soft spring draw.  Normally drill rod would be prefered but that somewhat harder to fing in these small sizes. To retain the pin the lower section (1/8 inch or less) is lightly peened oval to create an interference fit.

That looks like them, it's the 2 solid pins the carrier assemble pivots on. They must have used a staking tool to peen them in, it's tight in there.

Be cautious the holes the pins fit in sometimes go thru but at times the hole at the top is smaller. It is meant as an access port for a pin punch..

If they don't go through the 'pins' must in reality be screws as used in A5 Brownings..
