when we had the postal match before the shotguns shot at 50yds and they shot a three shot group.i think that would be good as far as i am concerned.like you said i was the only one to send a target in shot with a shotgun.

My opinion :?  is that a 3 X 5 card with an X can bee seen and hit at 100 yards.  If we BPCR shooters simply follow the rules that are the same as for the rest of the group we should be ok.  Hell 3x5 is about as tight as I'm shooting at this time anyway  .
The scoreing if done by class/caleber could  simply show the best examples from each.  When you receive my card it will be accompanied with a photo taken at the time and a notation saying conditions, load and set-up.  Open sights and cast bullets over Black Powder when compaired to the others could be fun for the more modern shooters ito look at if only in comparison of how far we/they have come since the "good old days".
For me the fun is the shooting and the fact that we all (H&R and NEF) shooters represent a conceipt/thinking  that a single shot rifle regardless of the caliber, is the true test of our sport and is really what I think its all about.......anyway I think this is great.  Thank you for doing this.

Jeff223....how about some slack if not for the BPCR then how about open sights.  Hell your 223 will all fit inside one of my 38-55's.......anyway, whatever, I'll be ther just for the fun and companionship.....after all is the participation and not the prize that is the central issue......thanks :D

these were 5 shot groups the last few times we had a postal match except for the slug guns and they were 3 shot groups.i dont think there will be any slug guns shooting this anyway but you never know.as far as i am concerned the shotguns (slugguns) can shoot 3 shot groups.like someone said and i think it was scruffy the slugguns arnt cheap to shoot at $2.00 a shot or a little less.

i copied these rules from page one so people could see them.

remember this is just for fun and do your best.

i  will try to shoot some tight groups again.going to shoot the 223 and 30-30 this time.working on some spitzer loads for the old 30-30.cant wait until this weather breaks.

Hmmm... seperate classes spoiled my prize thought... I was going to donate an RCBS 5-0-2 beam scale to the winner (just bought a 10-10) but looks like there is going to be a winner in every class so that won't float.  Oh well, good idea at least.

Fellars: This ain't about winning or losing, it's more about participation. That's why when this was started it was decided not to have prizes, it's about showing what these little rifles can do. Yes, Jeff 223 might win again, but you won't know if you don't shoot. Besides it gives you a great excuse to get out to the range. I've heard the ol'saying that goes trying is the first step to failure, it's not true McGee, not trying is assured failure. Good Luck, There Are No Losers!! <>< :D Duce:

Offhand35, the cards are going to Wlscott.  You can send him an email  at wscott@ptsi.net and he'll send you his address.

59 cents a slug, that's awesome!

Marv, you can enter any nef/H&R, regardless of rechambering.

I'm very intereseted in you results.  Do you plan to chrony any of you loads out the 22" barrel?

I'll cut and paste stuff from this post and form a new "final draft" copy today sometime.

would that be you Wes?
yes Wes won that one and im sure there will be a new winner again.there will be some real good groups turned just like before.the 223s and the 243s shooters should show some great groups again.the big game rifles will show somewhat bigger groups but you never know.someone just might set up a deer rifle with a varmint scope just to see.

Why, yes Jeff....it would be

Actually, I'm not bragging (ok just a little bit), mostly I'm just pointing out that not necessarily the same person has to win every time.

Jeff is good, and his gun is plenty accurate, but you never know unless you try him :?

Okay guys, count me in. I'm just getting my .223 act together, but the May deadline should get me there. I'm just wondering what the groups looked like from the last two winners? It's good to know what the competition is like. When you first posted a Postal Match, I thought we would be shooting at stamps.  :-D

Here's a couple from Jeff223 from the last postal match, he no longer has the 22lr sportster

I don't know the group size, but they look small.

edit: man, doesn't that 223 bullet look like it's going to fall out of the shell?

Nice groups, maybe I don't want to embarrass myself by getting in this.    I have to make a decission, on whether to take my .223 apart, and do the trigger, or wait until the match is done. I need to figure return time from the gunsmith in case I mess it up and have to bring it to him in a bag.

Ranger, you can shoot any ammo you want for the match.  Don't worry about handicapping yourself by shooting factory rounds.  I won the first match we had shooting Winchester Valu Pak 45 gr hollow points.  Fact is, I still haven't gotten my hand loads to shoot as good as those factory bullets did

The only rule in this thing that is hard and fast is that the group MUST be shot with a NEF or H&R gun.

Good luck and good shooting
