I have one in 9mm.  I wanted a DA/SA all metal gun with an exposed hammer that would carry 15+ rounds and was not as big as a full auto.  It has fired over 1500 rounds with no failures at all.  Not one problem since the first round was chambered. It's the only semi I've ever bought that I could say that.  The biggest con is the weight, but what do you expect from an all metal gun. It's a little heavy for me to conceal at over 2lbs and close to 3 when loaded.  I don't like heavy guns for concealed carry.  It's more of a truck gun.  Stoeger/Beretta uses the same frame on all their calibers in the cougar; only the slide and mags are different.  It will take +p and +p+ without issue.   If you want a inexpensive semi that will take a beating, the Cougar is it. The pros outweigh the cons by a long shot.

I have one in 9mm and like it a lot.  I do not find it too heavy if you want a lgun that weighs less you can not get an all metal pistol and will have to get one with a plastic frame.  I carry mine in a hip holster under my jacket and it works fine for carry during all seasons except hot weather when I do not use a jacket.  I find the stoger to be very reliable with all ammo including HP and lead bullets.  I have yet to have a single stopage with anything I have tried in it.  This is unusual for me so it is a factor in what I like about the pistol.
