T/C's musket, the round barrel New Englander. The furniture on the 54 has been brite blued. The 50 has a select stock.
My favorite shooters. I have never seen or even heard of a NE flint.

I have one in .54, I haven't shot it much because the rear sight got tweaked by the previous owner. As soon as the IRS decides to give me my money back, it's getting a Skinner Express Peep in black gold. This will be my primary deer and bear gun this year. My other front stuffer is a Renegade .50. Nice collection of T/C's ya got here! My next one will be a .32 or .36 for woods carry instead of a .22 lr.

How many? 25, with two under construction, and one in transit [inbound]. All are in excellent condition, no rust, no cracks. I don't know when it went from a couple of rifles to a collection. I would refurbish one and then couldn't part with it. T/Cs make it easy to mix n match. I've learned a lot about wood work, and gotten good at raising dents.

A long and winding road to this 45 Hawken. Here it is. A T/C collection has to have a Patriot.

'Crow' gun, for shooting crows.
Crows are smart and will retreat from a man with a gun. They go about 80-100 yards and squawk, knowing a hit
from a shotgun is unlikely. This long barreled, Creedmore rear sights, Thompson/Center 40 can do it. Every time.
Maxi's go even further. It has not been fired in this configuration. The Hawks and cats cant get them all, do your part.

This is a GM drop-in for a Renegade. Some brass spools and its a Hawken. The barrel is 38 inchs, so the ramrod was a challenge.
Its a 3/8 brass tube with a two inch extension to reach the bottom. Barely fits in the bore. Did I mention its a one inch flat to flat? Being 38 inchs long with only a 40 hole, it weights about the same as a freight car axle.
Its not my longest rifle, my 1853 Enfield has a 39 barrel. P.A.

My question would be what is your back stop if you miss a crow and you are using your crow gun and not a shotgun? Nice rifles by the way.

An unusual configuration, small bore, big barrel. A collection of various parts I traded for with GBO brothers.
The barrel is a Green Mt. drop-in. The iron spools had to go. Brass spools have a big hole so they were shimmed
using 357 brass. The brass 'lollipop' triggerguard was rough-cast and took two years to polish. Lyman peep.
One inch hawken stocks are getting precious [expensive].

Yeah, that "Sand Cast" stuff can be a PITA.

Who did the Engraving on the Butt and Cap? That's a nice touch.

I will admit I got the engraved nose-cap & butt plate on evilbay from a nice yankee in NY. I thought at first that they were
T/C parts that were engraved, no. The parts are for a T/C but cast by the engraver. The work looks good and looks a lot
like brass stuff I have seen from India. The nose-cap and butt plate both required fitting and the lower butplate screw hole
had to be moved. I must remark I have never seen an engraved T/C. There must be some. The custom guns seem to be
engraved more often.

I have had this project idleing for about a year now. I wanted to redo the feeble mounting it came with. This 45 is just the thing for bear at 450yards. If you can get him to stick around a couple hours, so he can be shot a dozen times.

One reason this type of scope never caught on for field work is that accuracy is possible, but unlikely. The optics are ok, but since the adjustments are on the mounts, staying zero is a problem. The mounts that came with this scope are kinda odd and required four new screw holes in the barrel. I was able use the existing dovetail and rear sight holes and be adjustable. Even with that the set-up is feeble. Soooo, accurate? not really. For reliable long range work I think the Creedmore sights on that 40 work much better. That long brass tube does look impressive.
