Aperture for a T.C. ??

Hey guys. I have a 14 inch 41 mag Contender that I would like to try a peep site on. Anyone every use these before and does anyone know where you can get a set for a Contender. Thanks much. Peter

I would think that a hard-recoiling pistol or carbine like the Contender in a magnum caliber is NOT the place to put a peep sight that requires me to put my good eye up close to it.

Peter,

I think I have one of those T/C saddle sights that came on an old octagon barrel that I got quite a few years ago.  If I remember to check in the morning I will go see if I can find it.  Think I have it somewhere in some box.

I believe you just hold it extended like the regular open sight.

I put a Williams (WGOS I believe) on a Contender 375 Win last summer.  I liked it and shot good groups with it, it just did not have enough adjustment to properly sight the gun in.  It just screwed on in place of the old sight.

 These are available through T/C part #7179, but this is listed for carbine bbls.  I don't own any Contenders so I can't say what the difference is between the Super 14s and the carbine bbls on Contenders. Other than length.... But I'm sure the factory could tell you, give em a call. :D

I was just looking at one this morning in the Natchez shooting supply catalog.  I think it was valued at around $47 and change.  It was a Williams and was listed under optics.

I took a look this morning and did not find it in the place I thought it was stashed.  If you can wait a while I will let you try it when I come across it.  However no telling when that may be, but I am pretty sure it is in some box.

Thanks to all who replied. The 41 mag really doesn't kick that hard, in all truthfullness it real fun to shoot. I think aperture sights for handguns have a bigger hole because you hold it out in front of you. I saw one on a Super Blackhawk at the range I shoot at but didn't get a chance to ask the gentleman if I could look at it. It looked fairly big though. Tom if you find that sight let me know who's it is maybe I can find one unless you would like to unload it to me. Thanks again all. I love Contenders - Encores

I will try to find that sight.  Please send me an e-mail at:  krupinski@aaahawk.com with your mailing address.  When I find it I will send it to you to try.  

It is the target apeature sight they called the saddle sight and it came off an older octagon Contender .222 Remington barrel.  I believe I have it in a small box somewhere in my barn, so as I am going through stuff I will keep an eye for it.  Just can't remember exactly where I put it.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd let you know, I found a sight at Brownell's. It's a Williams WGRS-TC. It's made for a Contender, came yesterday and when I unscrewed the existing aperture there was a nice 1/4 hole +/- looking at me. It screws on where the existing site sits so there is no machining to be done. Cost was just over $34.00, not bad. I hope to give it a try this weekend. I have had one of the Williams peepers for the TC Contender 14 for a long time.  I used it on a 357 Maximum with 200 grain bullets.

You don't have to hold the gun any closer to your eye than you would with plain open sights.  It works great and the elevation posibility with the peeper rig is outstanding for long range shooting with the 357 Maxi.

My buddies and I have both hit 500 meter Rams with the peep sighted 357 Maxi.  Accuracy is not an issue with the sight. :-D

I traded my 357 Maxi and kept the sight.  I'm going to put it on a 10" 32 H&R Mag.
