2 great choices, I figure you'll be pleased either way.  One suggestion though, have you checked out the Savage SP10's?

Check out Law enforcement series, 10 Precision Carbine. Its a couple of bucks more than the Weather Warrior but I think more like the Rem. Tactical.  I have one in .223 and love it, and I've seen a couple of .308's in action.  Those guns can shoot!

I think either would be a good choice.
308 is a great caliber.
depending on how and where you hunt a 3-9X 38 or 3-9X40 would be a great choice to mount on top of the rifle.

I've never owned a Savage other than rimfire so can't comment on that choice other than to say they are just so ugly I can't bring myself to try one. I tend to always buy Remington rifles and have owned a bunch of heavy barrel rifles from them in several calibers. All have been really good shooters.

I'd get the Remington.

Apparently you've never taken a close look at Remingtons tactical lineup.  What could be more pleasing to the eye than a rifle with a triangular barrel?  The best looking one of the bunch (at least in my opinion) isn't much different than the Savages.  And they cost about $3-400 more.

Well, I've had a 308 weather warrior, got a Rem sps tactical, and also now have a savage 10 in 308.  The weather warrior was good, about all I remember.  The Rem sps tactical is sort of barrel heavy (20" HB) but it shoots down in the 1/2" range.  The newest member, the savage 10, still with cheap syn stock, is doing very well, shooting about 1" or less.  I'm still narrowing the exact handload for it.
Overall, you really wont go wrong with either.  The weather warrior is easier to carry and will probaly shoot almost as good as the Rem (sps tactical with hogue stock).  But the Rem is very nice as well.
Boils down to which one feels better for you.
Best of luck,

I don't know if the Savage has a threaded bbl or not . The Remington Tatical ( so many guns are tatical these days )  can come either way I believe. I have shot a 20 inch bbl with threads it is very accurate . I have also shot several with 26 inch bbls and they are very accurate. If you plan to up grade in any way the offerings for Remington seem to out number all others. My gun has a HS stock and I hope to get steel bottom metal I don't see it offered for many other guns. If you plan to quiet the gun a threaded bbl. is nice or if you want to add a flash supp. its nice. Many are finding adding a can takes out about half the kick of standard ammo and lowers report but not get rid of it . Nice in both cases for accuracy.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
