I've shot High Power matches with the USAF.  I live near Hurlbut FLD.

I shot  High power too. I am Gunny Pitts ex son in law. I shot Blanding and Malabar all trough the 90's. Do you still do anything like that?My two daughters are in to NRA 3P and CMP small bore. The oldest is #1 in the state and my youngest is third. Like to get a cmp light rifle match going at the Desoto range or something like a reduced high power.

I no longer shoot in matches.  I learned alot by shooting them though.

I ran a box of Winchester 150 grain Power Points through it yesterday, and it shot about 2 MOA. I think it will do better with handloads and a higher powered scope. The Leupold that's on it has heavy duplex crosshairs and they don't lend themselves to precision shooting.
I do not always agrre with Swampman and some days I too take ofense to what is said . But he does not need you to mouth off .  Tis is a gun forum , not a place to have it out all the time . So welcome to the ignore list 'cause your on it .
I see what you wrote on  the ruger forum . Well other than the need to get used to the gun and running some different ammo through the gun you might want to scope it with a scope without the heavy duplex .Think you answered your own question with the scope and getting 2" groups .
The heavy duplex just covers up too much target.

Somehow I just knew your too ignorant to learn ............................................... however I did try to enlighten you  ::) .

I have nothing to learn from you and no interest in anything you have to share.

The true sign of an ignoramus Swampman and you have posted it for all to see .

You see unlike you if I don't know something I will say so straight out. As an example some time back I asked about the models of Remington bolt actions that followed the Model 30 as 721, 725 etc were just numbers to me and I didn't know which came first or last or even when they were made or if they were still based on the Enfield action or not. So I asked ................................... but not you  Oh no you just come out with some crap and we are supposed to swallow it.

It's no wonder your a laughing stock.

Of course I am not an American so obviously know nothing about rifles, have no shooting/hunting experience and generally must keep in line as I am from across the pond not only that am from England  :o  which of course not being a god blessed American have no rights it seems even on the internet and forums.

I dont think anyone here is saying your not allowed to post your opinion or disagree with anyone. Hell im about the king of telling it like it is on here. But when it comes to name calling a line is crossed. Just try telling hes wrong by posting good proof of your opinion instead of getting worked up and personal. Ive disagreed with swampy on many accounts as he will no doubt attest and ive done it in less then polite ways but i dont get into name calling and even now he and i will still converse about differnt subjects in personal messages. He can be a bit bullhead no doubt but he does have his right to post his opinion just like anyone else even if it comes from way out in left field. One thing i can say about him is ive never seen him make a personal attack on anyone.

He was warned to stop by a moderator and he pretty much said he'd do whatever he wanted to.  I don't make personal attacks and my post do have value IMO.

I would agree everyone has a right to state their opinion and if you disagree state the facts why.  I have done that and found some don't have anything to say afterwards, others just repeating the same old saw right or wrong.  Brithunter you are only hurting yourself though you have to remember that.  You aren't going to change anything in the manner you are going about, you will only end up getting booted, Sacred Cow is a term that comes to my mind sometimes and you certainly aren't one.
Good Shooting,

First on the net you have no idea who is posting , the guy you think is stright as they come may infact be troll . So why let them upset you ? when someone upsets you they control you .
Second we all have different experinces , just the other day a good poster offered he loads FMJ for PD in 380's . This has been a praticed mentioned many times over the years . I live in an area with alot of people so I posted it could be a concern for by standers . He may live in a less populated area and the pratice safe.
third there are posters that want to present a certian persona , so what see first statement  ;) .
Fourth now since being here I have changed my mind about a few times,  reversed my thinking . Why ? Becaused someone stated something in conflict with what I had known for years or had accepted. They sparked enough intrest to get me to do some reserch and get proof not hear say .But not before i argured .

fifth FANTASTIC , learn the word and use it instead of - you idoit , BS , lier , you are stupid etc.
next time someone makes you want to reach into the computer jusy post FANTASTIC !
we will know what ya mean  ;) ;D ;) ;D ;) ;D 8)
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

What is a troll on a forum?
Someone who states a FANTASTIC comment or opinion, whether they believe it or not, just to start an argument.

The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

I give you guys credit who have to jump threw that many hoops just to shoot your guns. Im fortunate in having my own range just a 1/4 mile from the house. If i had to drive an hour and pay just to shoot along side of a bunch of yuppys i probably would have found another hobby.

Sorry but I did not realise using proper English was name calling:-

an ignorant or stupid person:assume that your examiner is an ignoramus and explain everything to him

From the Oxford English Dictionary.  One only has to read his statements to see it fits perfectly.

As previously mentioned I used scopes with the heavy Duplex or European reticles most of the time so am not only used to them but along with others who also use them have found targets that make good use of the reticles to align then on target. I bought it new through Bud's online.  That saved me about $100.00.

Okie Dokie, since the swampy one reported this thread and posts by Brit hunter it has now gotten my attention. Prior to that I hadn't opened except to see the initial post. The rifle was so ugly it hurt my eyes so I haven't returned.

I'll try to address several things I've seen in this thread.

1. Yes you can still ignore someone but now you must do it in your profile as there is no longer a button to do it on a post made by a member.

2. Foreigners get same respect as Americans so long as they are contributing to the discussion and following the rules. They get the same ire from me if they can't or won't follow the rules.

3. As to what is a troll if you look up the word in Webster's I believe it has a photo of swampy next to the definition.

4. Swampman and Brit Hunter: I am sick and tired of the BS feud between you two. Swampman posts the same old story over and over and never offers facts to back up anything. The short one liners of "I know" and "you don't" are wearing thin. You are doing nothing but trolling and baiting and this piss and moan and report posts when folks respond to your baiting. Brit you just can't seem to avoid taking the bait like a hungry fish looking at a worm dangling on the hook.

GBO Rules say NO NAME CALLING and NO PERSONAL ATTACKS, NO BAITING. The feud between you two have both of you in constant violation of the rules. I suggest you might want to find the place in your profile to ignore each other and do it cuz if this crap continues I'm gonna give you both a 15 day ban to cool down and rethink the constant violation of rules. For some reason you two have developed a deep seated hatred for each other which is fine I have no problem with that. I DO however have a problem with you spilling it over to the GBO Forums so STOP IT NOW!

5.

This rifle has some important features that Remington doesn't offer.  It's a tank!

Well some of us  are willing to drive over two hours to a range . We just make a day out of it . You take the family with you and go out for dinnerand do somethng differant afterwards .

Swampy that to me is a fine looking rifle , but to each their own .I would be intersted in hearing more reports on how you  "master" this Ruger .When this happens I think a bit of pride sets in too. I will be one of many waiting for more on this rifle for sure .

Are the magazines specific to this rifle?

Do they come in 5 0r 10 round capacity?
