That's a load of trash based on a left wing analysis. They get that number by changing the base line in a number of key assumptions. Well, if you change it for the Bush number you have to change it for the obama number.

Second if you read the chart you would have noticed it started in the last quarter of 2008. You do know Obama started in office February 2009! You know this right? The 2009 budget was passed in 2008! Do you know this? This is not a new fact and has always been that way. Moneys spent are setup the year BEFORE! Stop with the lies and get educated on the facts. Yes, I know that Bush owned the 1st 21 days of 2009. So lets pro rate those 21 days of the 365 in 2009 and give that debt to Bush

. It does not change the numbers. Its year ending data. What, is this the first chart you've ever seen? Its still the same. Obama has amassed more debt that all prior presidents combined. The debt is now at $16 trillion thanks to obama, the president you support.

Are you saying that Obama as president and a democrat controll of both Houses on Nov 21 2009, and they still could not cut back on spending to effect a reduction in 2009? WOW! Even when obama controlls 100% of everything, that bush still gets the blame. Obama has to go, even when he has all the levers of the federal government at his complete disposal, he still cant do anything.

You've taken the hook, line and sinker Waregleguy. Obama could have proposed those budget cuts he promised and got it through Congress in a nano second. Instead, he chose to drop the spending issue and passed a near $trillion dollar spending bill and obamacare.

Admit it, the guy is a disaster and he could have taken action in early 2009 to address spending. He did not, so he owns the number. Just like bush owned the numbers he inherited from clinton.

Yes I agree, he could have done that if he wanted. He could have reduced speniding if he took action. He did not, he is at fault. He said during his campaign he was going to reduce spending as priority ONE. He lied and you are helping to advance that lie.

Go ahead, keep making excuses for obama. I noticed you wont afford same for bush and what carried over to him nor should we.

The numbers shown in the initial post have been debunked. Obama's near-trillion dollar "stimulus" bill, plus the uber-expensive health-care law, both passed in 2009, should be tallied against him, and were not part of Bush's last fiscal 2009 budget, obviously. Saying that the fiscal 2010 budget (Obama's first) was his initial spending is totally misleading.

Forget the spending BS first you have to have wealth to spend . Its created debt ! second how many have seen a reduction in take home pay ? how many have seen an incresae in food cost ? medical cost ? fuel cost ? or housing cost ? and lost homes ? these are the things people can see and understand . Just in case anybody was interested. This site has info on our debt all the way back to the beginning of our country. Pretty interesting reading. One of the most amazing things I found out was that the last time out debt went down from one fiscal year to the next was during the Dwight D Eisenhower presidency. That leads me to the question.....just what surplus did George W Bush squander?

Here is the answer to your question about Bush:

There are 2 key budget numbers we hear about:

1. The annual budget deficit:This the amount the federal government spends more than it takes in, in same fiscal year from tax revenue. Annual Tax revenue less spending in same year = deficit. This negative or posative balance gets applied to the debt.

2. Federal debt: This is the net-debt the federal government has ammased from all the combined annual deficits. Basically, this is the amount unpaid on the credit card as they say...

When Bush took office he inherited a surplus with item 1. During the second Clinton term, the annual federal budget was in a surplus mode so they actually starting paying down on item 2. During the Bush years, this annual surplus turned into a deficit, and we starting just adding to the credit card balance.

Obama has accelerated the annual deficit in every year and has contributed the largest contribution to the federal debt than all other presidents combined.

You guys don't stop to consider that the current admin had to still pay for two wars and all its side effects that Obama wouldn't have started in the first place and the huge tax break that we cant afford for the filthy rich. The bank and wall street bailouts were started under Bush and continued by Obama. Lets see Bush drug plan Obamas health care fashioned after Romnneys Mass health care plan? They all sound like liberals to me. I would vote for Ron Paul or Pat Buchanan if I had the chance but the big money machine wont let that happen.
