I apologize for setting off the Savage pissing match (I think GBO has a Savage forum for savage discussions), It was not my intention to start that, I just wanted to show that a cheappie mosin rack grade service rifle can dish out some respectable groups.
Mosin triggers.
My trigger is stock (unmolested)and works the best of any Ive tried since I started messing with Mosins back in 1989, in end I'd suggest try swapping in 2 -3 diffrent
Trigger Spring & Bolt Stop's this can really make a diffrence on Mosin trigger pull.
Id had 9 diffrent Mosins, in end the trigger helps allot, still its accuracy of the rifle that helps endear the rifle, My chamber sticks some yet due to steel ammo case coating's fouling my chamber, its a booger at times to pop the bolt open when its been shot some, I need to get a good chamber cleaning brush instead of the 410 ga shotgun brush Im useing now.
I have some 1970's era Chinese 148gr surplus ammo (bought 1992) that is brass case and is a dream to cycle through the P-27, it just is not that accurate, the black tip Czech 174 Milsurp is better but the Wolf 200gr soft point shoots the best.
If your cartridge interrupter is inletted good and not bent outta shape or gummed up with cosmoline, those rimmed russian rounds never have given me a hint of trouble feeding, if your encountering rim lock in a Mosin its because the cartridge interrupter is outta wack.
