I watched the movie, Enemies at the Gate, and got interested. At the same time discovered the wonder of owning a C&R. My first was a Bannerman conversion sporter (about WWI) of a 91/30. Barrel was shot out. Could not hit the side of a barn with that one. Sold it. Had a model 44 which was nice. But it shot 8 inch groups at 20 yards. Sold it. Had a Model 59 that shot 2 inch groups at 50 yards and was talked out of it cause money was tight...still sobbing...Had a 91/30 that shot 4 inch groups at 65 yards with iron sights. But wanted a sniper rifle. Sold it. Got the sniper version last week and need to clean off the cosmoline. I bought the ultimate truck gun - sporter 91/30 from a gun smith in NC. Just got back from the range. I need to adjust the front sight. Shoots 6" to the left at 25 yards. Groups not that tight either - 4 inches at 25 yards? I was shooting 3 different types of ammo to figure out which one it would like. It looks good but shooting not so good. But since most of these cost so little...it is fun to buy, shoot, adjust, sell, buy...shoot....Now I'm considering a Chinese model 53... Anybody have any luck with them?
